This is such a bunch of crap! I hate that they interupt the 10 hour break and basically force you to start it over for nothing! I agree with Brick...make 'em get a warrant or tell them they'll have to wait until your 10 hour break is completed....

I don't know why this surprises anyone. It has happened at Flying J several times in the past. (Effingham and Provo UT, that I know of) and at the Monee IL Petro as well.
I told them to get a warrant. Pizzed them off to no end.
Flying J managers told me if I "didn't like it; leave" when I complained.

I agree, make them get a Warrant. I've been told they (DOT) have the right to search from the dash to the back of your seat, but need a Warrant to go into the sleeper.
Don't know how much water that holds anymore.

I remember when they could NOT wake us up during our sleeper berth time...now that seems to have been thrown out the window too. Why?

What about going onto Private Property? These truck stop chains are private property. What's with that?

When they bring in Homeland Security, ALL of our rights are gone. They can do whatever they want to do. We have no rights!

For several years now, truck drivers have been a target for harassment, at Illinois truck stops. Has Illinois become the training boot camp for cruel and unjust punishment, or Demo-Training for Homeland Security?

Where's our "Safe Haven" for getting sleep, eating, showering...doing all the personal things we need to do , just for the sake of being human?

We spend millions of tax dollars on weigh stations...and they use truck stops!

They have no legal ability or right to see your cab and they misidentified themselves which may be able to nullify any evidence found.

They have the right to look in the cab. It is a commercial vehicle subject to inspection. The bunk area is the area they have to ask to enter. However, when they invoke Homeland Security, the government has allowed them to bypass alot of rights with this declaration.

You know this just get under my skin.... We have inspection stations called SCALES... all searches other then traffic stops should be done at those locations and not while a man is trying to sleep... This is just lazy law enforcement trying to get a easy score, becuase they lack the ability to do real investigations... question that? then tell me why Violont crime throwout America is at an all time high despite every state has been issued many goverment grants to fight this problem... why? becuase they take the money and spend it on fancy things like dodge chargers, new laser guns that are popping up all over IL and OH and other states ext... They have not hired more detectives where they need them to fight the rise in crime....... It all about their toys and profit...

I really think these people need to be woke up at thier house why they try to sleep telling them we nee to search thier house, lets see how happy they would be...

I agree. If they want to search these trucks, the cops should check the surrounding neigborhood as well. Private homes, cars, businesses. All get searched. But that would mean pissing off dangerous local voters.

I'd be like the French in this situation. When the government pisses off truck drivers in France, things tend to happen in a hurry and changes are made. When a cop looks at a French truck driver wrong, the whole industry shuts down. And when the French truck drivers shut down, they do it in the middle of the roads. I like the French. I would do well as a driver in France. Mess with me or play these silly games with me and I park it RIGHT HERE, you know what I'm sayin'?

Unless you want to be like the French, you have to learn to become a dangerous voter or simply boycott Illinois for the next year. Don't buy as much as a pack of gum in Illinois. Definitely don't overnight in Illinois.
