Central Refrigerated Truck Stop II

We pick up where we deliver... It's a dedicated lane... Only haul their product from one DC to the next... Same day and time each week... Friday morning leave out of Rocklin, CA to be in Atlanta, GA. Monday morning deliver and get reloaded then to Aurora, CO deliver and pick up on Wed. Take that back to Rocklin on Thursday... Drop the trailer ... Line 5 it 20 miles away to HOME!! It is 4970 miles per week and NO DEAD HEAD!! It would be nice if we could deliver and pick up from CO on Tuesday, since that's when we get there, and it would give us more time at home... But we'll take it!! The down side though on this lane... If/when we want time off, we have to take a full week... Not just a couple days... Like jumping rope, have to wait for it to come around again to get back in the loop.

 

Anybody else notice freight is on vacation? Haven't run a load over 500 miles in a week. I'm just glad my dm has no problem sending me mt from Charlotte nc to champaign il or I'd be sitting. It's times like that that the new fsc is very generous. I'm running about 50-60% deadhead this week.

 

So note for newbies and not so newbies. Make sure when your DM verbally dispatches you using Monday Tues ect you know what days those are. I don't pay much attention to day of the week, just the date. I'm trying to get home for a Dr's appt on the 20th. Rodger calls me saying "I'm going to have you pick up a load on Sun and deliver in Grandview on Tuesday" I saw cool not realizing that yesterday was only Thursday. Imagine how surprised they were at Kraft when I showed up 2 days early for a load (I drove straight from Wendover to Stockton so I never looked at load info, dang new qualcomm) any way now I get to sit for 2 days to get a load home for 3days off. Not much for miles this week.

 

I figured out what makes dole dedicated so great- they don't have to deal with the bad receivers; they drop the loads. I'm back at dole in NC. Been here 4 hours, still don't have a door, and I'm just about to have a 1000 mile load pulled over it.

I'm sick of pulling this load. It's 220 miles and always takes longer to deliver than it does to run.

 

I know the feeling....That can get real old and real discouraging quick.

 

They had a few but were having length issues in CA and they are not smartway certified. At least this is what I've heard. I do know TMC is outfitting their fleet with the new 579 petes though. I just passed 4 on I-35 this morning in IA going to their terminal.

 

This is all too complicated. I'm going to turn my truck in get a f350 and a flatbed then become a reality tv star. It looks much easier there. #shippingwars

 

Yeah, I broke even pretty much last week on miles. Working until Sunday this week, almost 900 miles even though I was available Wednesday afternoon. Now I've got ten days off to enjoy taking care of my girl (double mastectomy) and no hope for income while I'm off!

Those of you that run/ran good miles, did you have to talk with your dispatcher every day and say this is what I've got, this is what I need, please stop making me sit for 12-30+ hours to pick up loads? Lease ops don't rate layover pay and I'm dying to work again. This winter has been brutal for me. Just when I think it's rocking I catch another crap week.

 

The day before you deliver send an 01 saying when you will be available, what your clock will look like, and ASK for another load. L/o's CAN get operational layover; I have. You have to make sure your dm knows you're loosing your @@@ and they will give it to you. It's only $75/ day, so it won't cover your fixed, but at least it slows the bleeding. If you get a dispatch that keeps you sitting for a long time ask your dm if there is anything better. If there's not, ask for layover pay.

Never be afraid to plead your case; worst case scenario is no change, but even if they don't get you something better they'll eventually get sick of hearing from you and start keeping you loaded.

 

Winter months are traditionally slow Sad but true.

Glad we don't have a truck payment.
