Funny how that is. In the late 90's Nokia was on top, in the early-mid 2000's Motorolas were all the rage. Then in 2007-2010 Blackberries were all the craze, then 1-2 years ago the Iphones, now it's Samsung.

Does anyone know how the Z10/Q10 compares to the Note 2 and Iphone 5?

The z10 and q10 is what's going to bring Blackberry back to the forefront in my opinion. It was really a move that Blackberry should have made 2 years ago, but then again RIM isn't known as a company that compromises design and quality for the sake of rolling out a new product due to competition. Blackberry obviously took alot of time on both of these new models, and they probably threw everything on the line in terms of research and marketing as well. They are, by far, one of the most beautiful smartphones I've seen come out lately. It is top-notch design...really sleek, stylish, and professional. I have yet to see any company even DARE to compete with Apple in terms of design, and I certainly don't think anyone would have guessed that Blackberry could pull that off, yet they did. I have to give Blackberry a huge applause for that, that took balls, it was a huge risk, and it worked. The ultimate "under-dog" story of the cell phone world.

As far as comparing hardware, the z10 and q10 are both equal or superior to the latest models of competing android companies. The biggest thing is the dual core 1.5 ghz processor and 2gb of ram, which is MORE THAN ENOUGH speed and memory to run all of your applications. Another huge feature is the 8mp camera with 1080p HD video! Even the front camera is amazing, at 2mp and 720p HD video. And Blackberry didn't skip out on all the latest hardware gadgets either: built-in accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, and ambient light sensor. It's ready for 4G, yet still has an amazing battery life. This phone can compete head to head with all of the latest smartphones that have been releases in the past 18 months, and even surpass some.

One user stated that this phone is the last breath for Blackberry, but I would be hesitant to say that. These new phones are EXACTLY what Blackberry needed to get back into the market, and perhaps it's a fresh breath from them simply having their breath knocked out of them for the past 2-3 years. I don't see Blackberry going away anytime soon. They have loyal customers, and create solid devices. They got a bit overwhelmed by the huge rush of Android manufacturers that saturated the market in the past 3 years, but then again who didn't? HTC, LG, Samsung, and Motorola were shooting out a new model every 90 days, and most of them proved to be cheaply designed novelties. Blackberry was busy doing research and development, and it shows.

Now, if only Blackberry could could expand their app development, then you would have Apple and Samsung shaking in their shoes, if they aren't already.

If I was a Blackberry user myself, I'd stay with Blackberry because of these 2 new phones. 2 years ago, I would have said something far different, and I would have told you a million reasons to switch to Apple or Android. But now that they released the z10, completely different story. Blackberry is back in the ball-game, and their users will have phones that are just as superior as the iphone 5 or latest samsungs. The biggest loser's in this will be LG and Motorola, as neither company can compete with Samsung or Apple, and now the Blackberry z10 will add to that list and crush them even further down. Oh well, that's the karma they get for incompatible hardware and cheap plastic casing...c'est la vie

You should root your Note and see if you can put ubuntu or linux-mint on there. That would be pretty cool.

"Rooting" your phone means breaking a few of the unnecessary security parameters on your phone so that you can fully customize it the way you want it, and not just the way your cell phone provider customized for you. One of the biggest benefit is being able to do things such as free tethering, meaning you can turn your phone into a mobile hotspot for for free without subscribing to a hotspot plan. You can also get rid of alot of the built-in corporate software that makes your phone slow and takes up alot of memory and file space. It makes your phone TRULY free, without compromising its stability, and improving its performance. It's very easy to learn yourself, just go to youtube and type in "root galaxy note" and watch a few different videos...you'll be glad you did.

I believe Ex-Con-Trucker mentioned he has a Galaxy Note, and by the way he was sounding, I'm pretty #### sure he has rooted his phone, and can probably you tell you way more updated info on "rooting" than I can. I've been one of those iPhone pricks for the past 2 years, and I haven't rooted androids since the Droid 3 and HTC Evo 4G came out nearly 2 years ago. One or two years out of the loop is a looooooooooooong time if you're a hacker or technician in the cell phone industry, especially as fast-paced as the Android community is. I highly recommend anyone with an Android phone to get up with Ex-Con and root your phone immediately...leaving your phone as "stock" is simply ripping yourself off.

lol sorry to put your name on blast, ex-con-trucker, but your the android geek of this forum

If youre in a truck and do more than call you should consider a 7" tablet. There are cheap ones that run $50-75 all over that are actually pretty good. Better than a phone and less cumbersome than a laptop.

I tried all the carriers btw and verizon is the only service that i got service almost everywhere (there was one place ever i couldnt get service). And remember if youre stuck somewhere you can always hijack someones wifi.
