Scenario: Truck is on fire and the load is spilled on the road. Firefighters and Police on scene ask the driver "what type of product are you hauling"? Answer: "Que?".... The placard says "flammable" driver we need to know how to put it out.... Where is your BOL? Answer:Que Paso?

DOT officers know that many foreign drivers use their lack of comprehension to their advantage to avoid citations. Most officers dont want to risk having that "racist" label on their record if someone complains. I handed my log to the CHP officer at Blythe and he chuckled and said "I cant usually read the writing in these, its nice to see them written in english". How can a truck driver not be able to write "Pre-Trip Inspection" or "rest break" in a log book?

    **Rant over**

Let me clarify.... English is the MAIN language of the United States. I have 0 care if you do not speak it, or can't understand it. But don't start complaining (in broken English text as a matter of fact) about somebody treating you different and not having all the opportunities available because you do not speak or write English. It is in the regulations as a mandate, so don't expect them to just allow you to slide on thru. That would be the same as hauling hazmat with the certification, driving a truck without a CDL, not having a log book, or even driving on a flat tire. All things that are required for THIS job. You have to follow ALL the rules, not just the ones you want to (or can read)

The only comment required by FMCSR is geographical location of duty status change . Only anal safety departments require comments like break , fuel , pretrip , etc.
