Wait until you get to the terminal in Cookeville, and count the drivers in the lounge complaining. You'll know then how great Averitt is. The drivers that are here and hired know what I mean(and it's a great thing BTW). Good luck.

I heard that Averitt does a webcam interview. Is this just like other interviews or is it more involved?

It's like any other job interview. It was actually very low key. They just want to make sure you understand what Averitt is about and that you are willing to drive at night when necessary.

WRIGHTRACING is spot on about Cookeville Terminal. While I was waiting to take my road test the Sunday before Orientation started I had about 45 minutes to visit with different drivers who were heading out for the week. I wasn't shy about asking them their thoughts about Averitt. Not ONE "It sucks...run away." A couple guys shared frustrations but were still happy. Most of them said I was gonna love it here. They are right.

I had a great day today. Got to stop for lunch at Hammond LA and spent an hour and a half with a cousin I hadn't seen in over 20 years. It was a wonderful visit. Then when I got to Beaumont, TX I-10 was backed up something awful. Construction AND an accident. I ended up shutting down in Winnie, TX and I'll deliver at the Houston yard early in the morning.

One of the things I do enjoy about this job is being left alone to plan my day as long as I pick up stuff on time and get it there on time. Nobody breathing down my neck or always looking over my shoulder.

    raetnrunner and Woopigsooie Thank this.

Thats the way it's supposed to be..Glad it's going well for yall. If I didn't live a little over an hour from the nearest service center, I would have done it long ago.

WHITRACING im wondering if i go into the cookeville terminal and theres not a single driver in there, due to them running, or if there is and they are not complaining about anything then this must be a real good company to work for. Go into a crete terminal, O man i remember one time driver came in one night in Atlanta GA and he was so ticked off that i thought he was going to go down and bust into the office a throw his truck keys and fuel card at them i mean he was ticked, bad thing is i remember him saying he had only been with the company for 2 weeks thats bad.

Delivered in Houston at the yard this morning then got an early afternoon pick up about 15 miles away that I'll drop at the Nashville yard early Thursday morning. Another almost 800 mile run. Gotta love it. Weather here in Texas has been very nice. In the 70's and sunny. Might see a little snow around Little Rock tomorrow but it's just supposed to be light flurries.

I am considering Averitt...I have yet to go to school but already have my permit and all endorsements, and have filed for TWIC card. My main goal is to become a trainer. Could anyone inform me on what the perks are for being a trainer.
