Rolling through our home town (Fort Collins) We always take 287, not sure it is faster but it sure is a nicer drive.

Well we got stuck in Dever when they closed 70... Then they opened 70 to soon and had to close it again due to accidents...
Got to our 99/01 a day late... No problem in then out... Then just as we are leaving ATL guess what we see? Yep, two nasty amber lights and the same engine code we've had before... Sigh... Now at the Freightliner dealer in Chatanooga... So far their quick assessment has been quick. They are assessing it now... So we will see...Last edited: Mar 12, 2013

Thats a relief!
I enjoy reading your posts. I hate to hear about your truck problems it has to be frustrating. -
Oh it is! However I don't think we are alone with the occasional glitches... We're just vocal about them
-
Anyway thanks for the update on this site. I enjoy all the details, and Im sure it can be a PITA for you to keep posting updates sometimes.
I see my wife and I following you guys, but we have zero need to walk away from our 40 work week jobs that pays way more than to bills add up to. So for now we keep bank-rolling the extra and learning what we can.
Thanks again for sharing a look inside the day to day life of hauling freight.Last edited: Mar 13, 2013
Lady K Thanks this. -
I think we have the best DM!! Instead of just going with the status quo, she saw that our loop was loose (lots of sitting time) and tightened it up for us so we can now have (if we choose) more time at home!! So it was, leave Friday morning, run 2500 miles and not deliver until Monday 0300... Then go from Monday 0900 to Wednesday 0300 (1400 miles)... The last leg (1100 miles) went from Wednesday 0700 to Thursday morning... Then 20 miles to home until the next morning...
Now it's been shifted to where we can leave Saturday morning, deliver in GA Tuesday, run to CO by Wed, drop/hook to CA by Thursday.. That leaves Thursday mid morning to Saturday early morning we can be at home... HOWEVER .... IF we don't want to run as hard out of CA to. GA, we can leave Friday sometime, and 'play' on our way... Or if there is bad weather we can plan accordingly...
Tis is our first try at this new schedule... So far, I like it!!NavigatorWife, heyns57 and Bumpy Thank this. -
Home Time...
Yep we are now on Home Time!! Woo Hoo!! And also <<cringe>> Woo Hoo because we needed the break... <<cringe>> because of the cost of not rolling... the loop we are on keeps us moving, which is a good thing... but it also doesn't give us much 'down' time. We needed to get the A/C fixed in the truck and service done, so Matilda is in the shop getting that done. We tried to go see our Silver Mine, but the Jeep wasn't quite ready for the trip (vehicle registration and the drive line) and our 2WD truck just wasn't cut out for the road we have to take... instead we went as far as we felt comfortable, then had a tail gate lunch!!
It is also tax time!! I am SO glad that isn't 'my' job! I do the daily/monthly bookkeeping, and Klingon gets the 'pleasure' of doing the taxes. He does a great job, and some how understands/figures out what forms and stuff needs to get sent in... its all gobblygook to me.
I'm also getting to fix up some 'pre-prepared' crockpot meals for the road. I'm going to wander through Jessica's Blog (she is a friend and fellow driver) and some other crockpot sites, and see what type of meals I come up with.
Tomorrow we are also going to get to visit with 'the kids'... although, they really aren't 'kids' any more. Except for my Grandson - yep, he's a kid!! So glad we got to enjoy an Easter Egg hunt... it was a bit scattered on our side... My daughter and her husband really came through and set it up for us... thank you!!
Our next 'scheduled' hometime won't be until the end of July... not sure what we will do that week, but we are going to do something... we will have been married for 30 years, and need to celebrate some how. Just hope we stay rolling (no breakdowns) until then, so we can afford it!! -
On the road again ... <Johnny Cash ringing in my ears>
Yep we are rolling again! Was a nice HT, but of course not long enough... We need to become independently wealthy! Ok.. Time to wake up now.
