    Marc = Mark.

As stated before on the 710, if you take the USB end of the DC cord and slightly squeeze it, it will provide a more snug fit. Wrapping the excess cord around the bracket takes the stress off the cable also. The "blacking" out is due to the slight looseness of the USB connector on the DC Cord.

The 720, Have not heard this issue yet. Some have had a USB port issue, but that was covered under warranty.

The warranty is good for one year from date of purchase.

    Thanks,
    mark

The review material I saw was the customer reviews at AMAZON.com. They talked about both they 710 and the 720 blacking out. Said pinching/wrapping the cord was a short term fix and didn't last long.

I have a question: Do you have plans yet for your next model release , and if so will it be available by christmas this year?

Interesting.. A few drivers on here have tried the USB squeezing and they are still working. The only reason the 720 would black out would be loss of external power. I have not seen the review so I don't know the details.

I would think that if the 720 blacking out was an issue it would be posted on TTR also.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Any new model releases I cannot talk about until Rand has made it public.

    Thanks,

Here is my .02 cents worth.
I have both a 700 and 720 units. The 700 is in my wife's truck and has been updated to the latest maps, thanks to Mark working extensively to get them working and is still going strong.
The 720 is in my truck and have not had any problems with it except for map info not being accurate but Rand can't be blamed for that as they get their info from the map makers and all other gps units have the same problems.
I treat all my electronics with kid gloves. The units stay in the truck all the time, get shut off at night and only get updated maybe once a month unless it's a software update as construction updates aren't that important as you usually get lots of notice on the highway that road work is ahead and the unit gets a master reset when it gets a little flaky which clears out the cobwebs.
The power cord and usb connector is the weakest link and should be treated as such by pulling it straight out and inserting it straight in and not letting the cord dangle.I have also found that the tip on the plug that goes into the lighter socket that holds the fuse in is made of cheap plastic and has a tendency to break thereby not making a good connection and not supplying the proper power to the unit.I found an old power cord that had a steel ring on the end of it and swapped it out thereby making for a solid connection.
I have looked at and played with other units at truck stops and have yet to find one that has a better user interface and features.
I think Rand is fully aware that the 710 was a disaster due to manufacturing problems and hopefully this has been rectified. All GPS products will get quirky at times, they need to be set up properly for your individual needs, they don't work well right out of the box so read the manual, experiment with it and it will work properly, for the most part anyway LOL.
Hope this post helps someone as it comes from a very satisfied user. When my 700 eventually dies,as nothing lasts forever,I will most definitely get another Rand.

I too had the same problem and they asked for the serial number and said that unit did not come with the life time upgrades and said the place that sold it was mistaken and would not honor the life time upgrade. the programing also routed me to an interstate alround the washington dc area to go under an overpass / bridge that was to low 12.9 and I programed it for carrying hazmat and still it routed me though a residential while carrying HAZMAT and signs were posted no hazmat, I really suspect foul play with somebody "KID's" hacking the system while playing a game on the trucker's, the problem was on just the eastern sea board, and I have the same problem with the usb plug I squezzed it and it works better plug coming off the side was a dumb idea put it behind unit at a 90
