Well folks, it has been fun, it has been real, but it has not been real fun. I will endeaver to check in every once in awhile. But effective 12/28/2012, I am "RETIRED" for the third time (U.S.Navy, Teamsters, and now). I would not have changed all my past work endeavors for the world, all have been educational decesions. I have learned a lot, and they all have been instramental in making me a better person. But it is time to spend the rest of my life with my bride of 41 years. If she can put up with me that long, she deserves a medal.

Anywho, I am officially retired. Although, should the Government screw us well enough I will have no recourse but to return to active duty again. Therefore, I am keeping my CDL in good standing, just in case. I have already gotten phone calls from my previous employer who wants me to return to work, or he will work out a plan where I could work for him on a part time basis. Still thinking that one over, not sure if I want to do that. Although it has the ability to keep my CDL active should I need it again.

But, for now I am completely retired and plan to stay that way, Unless?????????????

    Wish us luck.

Well, here I am again. Turned into a bit of a grouch. Hate to admit it, but we all work all our lived to retire--its overrated. It was nice to take a months vacation. But I tend to be getting on my brides nerves, and her mine. Been working since I was 16, guess you cant just stop and expect to survive.

Worst part is I am seriously contemplating returning to the road, I must say (never expected to ever say this) I miss the road and those whom I shared it with.

Unfortunately, now I cannot until about 2014, as the wife needs three operations, maybe more. The doctor wants to get them all done this year, before the great obama care kicks in. He would not say why, but I think I know. Although, I will be the only one here to take care of her, so guess where I will be. I will be there for her as long as she needs me, then maybe I can return to what I am missing.

Dont know, what I do know is retirement is driving me crazy.

Welcome back! Fully understand the being retired thing. All that free time is somewhat overwhelming. My best wishes to your wife on here upcoming operations. Hopefully they will restore you both back to a better quality of life.

Its very overwelming for someone who has worked all of his life, and knows anything else. Even my love of my life agrees with that, but does not want me to go back to where I was at. So its still up for grabs.

Although I have told her I intend to go back after she is better. I also understand how women tend to twist things and get their way, so we shall see who wins. She has beaten me for our 42 years of marriege thus far, not physically neither of us believe in that.

I thank you very much for your good wishes.

Well, another update. Between my bride and other factors, thet I wont mention, I have been rendered unable to return the the road ful time. But, via a loop hole I am going to return, in another way, as a Part Time Local Line Haul driver. Guess I am returning to my previous employer, as a part time local line haul driver.
Darn, retirement is overrated. Wife will go for this, as she knows I want to drive again, and I will be home daily. Its been 2.5 years, and dont know what it is But I can think of nothing else but returning to driving. Guess I will stay until either (1) the wife passes away and I can return to the road (Unlikely), (2) The wife relents and allows me to return (Unlikely), or (3) until I can no longer pass a DOT Physical /or drive.
