ORAM how did u approached the 5th wheel placement, with 227 WB, and what lenght is the sliding base, and 5th manufacturer name, cause as honeybadger on the other post reported 12900 lbs steer.......he is about to tell us the position of his 5th non sliding....

Took some non essentials off my list with 1st dealer got $206731 list....expecting 148700 federal only tax 12% in....michigan exempt, no extra warr yet.... need to work it with others too
Drove it today but engine is not very smooth running/quiet at idle....liked the ride on the pure michigan WW2 streets,in dearborn,mi....ultra 13 plus impressed....nothing seemed to rattle

I am not so sure that a 1% mpg savings from an oil tested in a controlled setting, will actually net anything in the real world. 1% of 8 mpg (if one is lucky to get that mpg) is still less than a tenth. A tenth improvement is very difficult to prove what contributed to that increase, even on a good day. It all sounds good in theory. I would like to see how shear stable running that 10w30 synblend is compared to a synthetic 5w40 in real world conditions. The winter starting being easier is a reality, though.

365000 miles a year on a 6 year old truck , real low miles (2 million) . And the single drive set up costs less . Cost less to run , 1 or a 1000 , still more profit . May be one day You will get it ? Less you spend , more you have left over. Heck increasing one margin is far more important for the small guy!

The fifth wheel: ILS air Holland FW35J812XL80 12in. slider. I am pretty sure I do not need more. I can not see any reason to slide forward from the centre position, (with 36" you can do that too,) and with one feet back you can move about 1000lbs from the steer to the drive axles. Also I speced my steer axle to 13,200, but I want to stay well below that. I over sized everything a little bit, because I believe it will last longer.
The idle noise and vibration was scary for me too. My old Volvo-Detroit seemed better for me. Fortunately the driving experience was a different story.
Everybody seem to like the automated transmissions, but I still do not trust it, and it cost money to buy and to run too. So I have the traditional 13 speed.

The Delo 400 XLE synblend 10W-30 has the lubrication capacity of the old 15W-40. Also from now it will be standard in every Kenworth product. Also every Cummins and Detroit engine from the 2013 model year is modified to run on regular 10W-30 for the fuel saving. It is hard to measure 1% for me, but I believe it. And a little here and there can add up.

Got same 5th but manual release,24'' slide to close gap better, must go longer on WB cause i need right side frame 20'' space empty for APU,so only 3/4 fenders , left battery box, 21 gal DEF,120 gal , right 135 gal to keep them still under the shorter fender on the left i'll have latter a ladder/box aluminum, i'm thinking 232-234 WB, not sure, but may be needed to have empty 20'' apu box space....still need to see one truck with 3/4 to ceck space..

Did u go with full or 3/4 fender, what size tanks def/fuel???????tnx

It's the pseudo-truckers like you and your thinking what makes it so boring here. Definitely product of mega fleet you are, I'm not even trying to discuss - next time just read your post and try to understand it and soon you will be knee deep into fierce exchange with yourself

Fueled next to a guy driving a T680 this morning and he said it is a great truck to drive but the company bought 10 of them and they are having trouble with all of them throwing codes, especially as was mentioned earlier in the thread, the dozer valve.

Why can't they figure this stuff out?!?

!?):!?/.:(! It seems the days are over when after 13 years of driving my old rig I can wonder what is that noisy peace of metal under my hood.

Why???? They own 40% of the North American heavy tuck engine market. Why they can not figure it out? Man was on the moon, working in the space, shortly going to the Mars, man was in the Mariana wrench and they can not figure out a DEF dozer valve????? C'mon!!!!

I have 110-120 fuel tanks and 21 gallon DEF tank. With dry van and 227" WB the 12" slider is enough for me. I can not close the gap anymore and for weight transfer it is enough. I plan to have a Bergstorm Phoenix nite electric APU with an inframe battery pack. For the jobs what I am doing that is good enough. For fender, I will have a full Minimizer fender (1352) And a Minimizer floor mat as soon as they have for the T680: It is expected in the fourth quoter. If there is more inquiry, maybe sooner. Oh, and a trailer ramp. I do not want to brake my fenders to often.
