Yea I'm just about hired with Venezia also for their dry bulk division out of Hazelton PA. I like the whole family owned company deal. I worked for US Foods and Sysco and big corps like that don't give two flying rat's ##### about you, no matter how good you are. I got approved now I'm just waiting to talk to OPS tmrw or wed. I would love to hear from you and how it is. maybe you can email me jepanetta@gmail.com

I can't blame you. Good local jobs seem to be a bit of a rarity anymore.

They know most all drivers want to go local so take advantage of that. There are a lot of good local jobs that have crappy benefits.

But if you're young a lot of these local jobs probably make sense. You don't really need health insurance, you aren't thinking about saving money for old age yet, and you still need to have a social life and the ability to be around enough so your girlfriend doesn't run off with someone else.

I am sort of in the same boat as you... Although long haul for me what love/hate relationship.. But I sometimes want to go back out on the BIG roads for a couple years.. I am also a Heavy Equipment Operator with the government.... Now I on occasion would be operating track-loader (like a bulldozer but has a bucket not a blade), backhoe, excavator.. Although with my job I still drive a Tractor-Trailer and I also load myself with an articulated front end loader.. I don't even go far enough to need a log book just day sheets... The money, benefits and pension are far to good to be going back out on the road.. I know I saved more when I was on the road cause I didn't spend my money and now being local and home everyday I can't save as well.. The payoffs for me far outweigh the savings in money..

I just started with venezia about a month now in the dry bulk division, but it don't look like i will be sticking around to long. they don't pay enough for what we do. the dry bulk (cement) should be an hourly paid gig. Let's see i barely drove 200 milies today and had one stop cuz my equipment malfunctioned and couldn't get the product off. I don't know they seem pretty cool but don;t wana pay ####. I'm gonna talk to them about transfering to the food division, I heard those guys do alright and of course the OTR liquid tankers make bank cause they run like crazy, but my days of staying and showering in pilots and flying j's are over

    More than likely waiting.

No kidding. They want 14-hours a day and pay peanuts. I get % of the load, should be hourly. Company is using transportation exemptions to use and abuse.

How is Venezia's New Middletown, OH terminal? Earnings, what kind of freight, and hometime. Thank you.
