I'm stopped in Tucson on my way back from California on one of our El Paso to California and back runs. The whole time I was in California, I saw no trucks stopped by the CHP. Banning was packed but I got the prepass green. Yorba Linda scales were closed. Dropped in South Gate and Long Beach. Saw one truck getting an inspection on the roadside in Long Beach by a local.

However here in Arizona, I saw 3 trucks getting roadside inspections on my way in and so far 3 trucks getting them between here and the I-8 junction (I loaded in Calexico yesterday). This is typically what I see on these trips. So I kind of laugh when I hear drivers complain about how bad California is. If anywhere is bad these days, it's Arizona!

California scalehouses terrify me. Even when I did a pretty good pretrip and everything is in order, when my prepass goes red my heart goes to my throat..Because then its russian roulette if I get a red arrow

You're legal, right ? So, why worry ? On the Banning scales, which I pass by weekly, I'm amazed at how slow the trucks are crossing the platform scale, which is causing the huge back-up onto the freeway. It seems the truck that just crossed the scale and is well on his way past the inspection lanes and the next truck is just starting to inch forward across the scale. And I mean inch. You're allowed to move at 3 MPH, so, lets go. Once you're cleared the scale, next truck, lets go. Don't wait for the preceeding truck to get 4 truck lengths away.

That happened to me the other day truck didn't see a light so it decided to just stop and not move had to honk the horn for a whole minute for the guy to get the balls to move they really need to teach weigh station etiquette in trucking school

I hate that Banning scale on I-10. It took 20min to get across the scale from exiting the freeway. I know the US Express guy in front of me got at least a level 2 inspection. After rolling across the scale they told him to stop for the trailer axles. You can here the speaker: Stop, light goes red, truck is still moving along, Us Express STOP, truck still going, STOP and BACK UP, truck is still going, now he realizes the red light and keeps going and makes a right turn after the coop, comment over the speaker US EXPRESS YOU ARE MAKING A REAL MESS OF THIS. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall after he walked in the scale house with his paper work.

    I want Pre-Pass and I want it now :biggrin_2559:

I only get a green light in banning if they are backed up and the scale is closed anyways lol.

In California they wait until the end of the month to meet their quotas and if you dont have an updated sticker they will pull u in for a lvl1 I get a Lvl 1 in Truckee every 3 months my whole company. And also in Fairfield but usually if you are per passed most places in CA are green lights and rarely red

I have more worries in OR and WA than CA. WA and OR have more scales than all the other states combined and they can be rather persnickety at times.
