You know what they ask? No, they don't ask if I know how to drive a truck or even if I can fog a mirror. They ask "How much experience do you have? And if, big if, they look past my less than on year experience, they ask "How is your driving record?" Insurance companies are running this industry and I found this out in six months and I don't give a bleep what the old timer truckers say.

But you know what, go ahead and find the needle in the haystack Russian mobster that will take you on. When bleep hits the fan, he will just go back to Moscow.

Better yet, you will find a job, don't worry---you will find it before you finish reading my post.

Since rollovers are DOT reportable accidents, the best bet is to keep your CDL and let the rollover accident fall off your DAC report. Most negative stuff stays on 7 yrs or unless they ve changed it. Once it falls off, if a company is willing to give you a second change, be willing to go out on a refresher course if they ask you to. It shows you re really putting forth the effort

 

And exactly why should I sign on with a bottom-feeder who will entice me on to a backroad where I would rollover? Hmmmmm? With a rollover, I would get more than just my feet wet running upside down into a ditch.

Please elaborate 'oh wise one'.

 

If there is something that i learned in trucking is that any accident that happens, fight it in court! Plead no contest if it looks bad against you. Never plead guilty. If he had gone to court and told the judge with evidence that the Company was controlling his routes and mapping like they were the drivers, then the judge probably would dismiss the case! In my accident with that train, all you will find in my FL Lic. report is, Din't stop at a stop sign. Police came out. Fiddles Sticks, when i called the Insurrance like Progressive Commercial Ins. i thought i was going to be interrogated to what happend, all they ask, i see on your driving record that you missed stop sign and police came out? what happend, and i told them a brief story of the cause. No increase whatsoever even though, homeland security camaras in the port of Tampa showed me as missing the stop sign! Thanks to pleading no contest! not accepting responsability when CSX had no horn, no burn flashers, no one standing in the tracks at 11 pm at night letting me know that the freight train was backing up and later a security gaurd told me that they dint want to bother the bosses with train horn at 11pm at night! But this is a advice to any new driver, always fight your accident in court! I could've been giving the death sentence in trucking for 7-10 years where no insurance company will hire me as a Driver or Owner Operator under their lease like im doing right now in Containers. Fiddle Sticks, you are right, in. controls this industry but with a no contes, all i pay for Ins. on my tractor is Comprehensive, bob tail, and collision $131.00 a month. Lease Company pays the rest.

 

I was not a salesman or an agent, I was a record keeper, and I was downsized. Why are you not on the boats anymore? Probably because you got too much sun and it melted your brain.

I may be wonderful, but regardless, I am not all I think about. I thought I was giving this OP a realistic view of his chances to obtain another driving job. A rollover is just a pinch better than a DUI in the typical insurance company's eyes, and this is only because DUI involves 'drugs' (alcohol).

But you old timers just go ahead and tell him its is fine and dandy and let him waste his time attempting to get another driving job.
