When I first got my authority 7 years ago landstar was my first customer and was that way for my first 18 months.
After that I started hauling for other companies and seen how LITTLE they were paying in lots of cases.
The past year I've noticed most of the loads they have are double/triple brokered and getting a TONU when they screw up is worse than any other
broker out there and there loads pay less in most cases than anyone Else's. Is this just something to the area I'm in or has anyone else noticed the same?
I still say landstar is a good starter company but that's about it as I don't see them as a way to make a really good profit.
I truly believe landstar is becoming a bottom feeder operation

    Real Deal Thanks this.

They have been double brokering quite a bit lately. I have a VA-PA run 337M I usually pay $925 to move. I received 3 Landstar invoices the other day with 3 different carriers, that hauled it for $825. And 2 of those carriers were on our Blacklist . When I tender over a load to Landstar, I expect a Landstar driver to haul it. I don't want a cheap carriers with poor CSA scores hauling our freight.

Landstar states they don't double broker to broker carriers but that's a lie. CSA scores are meaningless unless you go in to the actual reports and see what they are about. Poor writing and a burned out bulb enough times can
make a carrier look really unsafe when that's not the case. I have no violations on my record but have never checked my score. Might I suggest before you black list a carrier that otherwise may appear good to find out the true facts and not look at king ray-ray's useless site totally. Why help landstar in their quest to make every O/O inti one of their minions (bco)?

Have you told your agent that you only want Landstar trucks? Landstar has a huge brokerage as well as the actual carrier side. We have many customers that require only Landstar trucks move their freight.

Money is the driving factor the agent makes more with a broker truck. Why would they make pennies when they can make dollars?

I picked up more business from direct shippers because of that same issue with other brokerage firms as well, I showed them my scores and rating and they gave it to me direct since the brokered loads were going to fly by nights and low ball and low score haulers.

That's funny. I see someone's been drinking the Landstar Kool Aid while they read the propaganda. Have you checked their CSA scores?

I think they are trying to keep the freight OFF Landstar trucks to clean up their CSA basics because they were over threshold on some basics a while back.

I used them quite a bit in the past also, but more and more agents have turned into liars and cheats. I am not a warehouse for their freight screw ups and I will not hold it for free without a detention agreement. Worst part is Jacksonville backs up the scum bag agents.

If they treat their O/O's the same way they treated me lately, no wonder they have the CSA scores they do. Who else would work for them?

I wonder why they went to mandatory E-logs 58% HOS basic. HAHAHHAHAHAHA.

That's exactly correct. They ARE worse than any other broker for TONU.

I even had one of their agents reduce the rate agreement from $1200 to $1000. Even sent me a new rate agreement to sign. Jacksonville called and said they withhold payment on ALL my outstading invoices until I signed the new (lower) rate agreement. Bottom of the barrel these clowns are.
