New HOS rules 7/1/2013. 34 hour restart. How come in example 15 (January 2013 edition), of the new HOS FMCSA logbook examples on DAY 6, there is NOT a 1/2 hour break violation ? The driver drove for 1/2 hour past 8 hours since the last .5 hr rest break? Is there something I am missing? The Examples logbook says no violations... any enlightenment on this appreciated. Frank. (( at 1:30, he drove for half hour under violation )).

My guess is that the law does not take affect till July 2013, so it was not noted.

But the LogBook examples published in Example 15, are specifically stated showing Weekends Off using the new rules in effect 7/1/2013... Day 6 looks to be clear violation, and not flagged as such... Just trying to learn in case missed something about 1/2 rest break rule...

Back in the 80's the ATA log books had a clear log violation on the example, plenty of people noticed and told them. They did not correct it until 1997.

Does DOT have "official" printouts, forms, and publications (yes, similar to IRS docs) in order to help and ease drivers' figure out the rules and regulations? such as: Intructions for 48 state OTR Eectronic Logging--- or ---- Intructions for Oil Field Workers HOS compliance-----or ----- LTL 100 mi radius: how to fill out a log correctly and when.........?

Google FMCSA rules and you get the whole thing.

Also comes in a little green book.

    trucsugma5 Thanks this.

Thank you, so..... those two locations will show me exactly "all" the rules for "oil field workers" in 'one separate chapter' without confusing 10 letter words?
and do they tell you the rules on how to log EOBRs or does it merely tells us which elements (i assume they mean what "information") must the eobr include? and where on those locations does it tell us when is it ok NOT to follow paper log rules? (sure, some stuff is common sense - but if it's not written down, then DOT can say "well, son.... show me on the book where it says it's ok for you to start driving, not log it, and let the computer log you in after the fact, sometimes up to a mile? HUH?"

ok, so am not the sharpest apple on the tree; but the more and more i read the rules - the clearer it becomes, However.... i dont see any changes to include oil field workers starting along with the new rules, so i guess am exempt from the restart rule, for now... anyways, thank you all for your help...
