Actually it is based on real driver input, and management also. I always assumed it was some sort of cheesey made up "rah, rah" best fleet to drive for. Bought and paid for... with the only winners being megas... who paid to publish all those recruiting magazines... I was wrong.. We went through the process and I was impressed. That said, they obviously interviewed some drivers at landstar. Obviously not some of the malcontent reject types who can't run a truck though.

Mr 3PL may think he's paying great rates to Landstar but by the time they take their cut or whatever brokering it, or even going on their own trucks.. That is really not so great of a rate.. Some people tend to forget about all the hands in pie.. Yeah it's probably an OK rate for a small carrier doing that freight direct. To be brokered out or even going on Landstar trucks to me it just looks like an ordinary nothing to get excited about rate considering where it goes, imo, if it's dry van..

Polls, survey's and reviews all look for and obtain a desired result the wishes of whom ever paid for them. I wouldn't put a lot of faith in some
poll tooting the horn for landstar I would bet it's heavily skewed.

That is why I brought up that a "good" paying load is only good to one person's opinion, but may not be to other's.

In case you haven't heard, Landstar has invested millions in state of the art software and hardware that enables them to access safety and compliance data downloads directly from the FMCSA enabling them to mitigate risk associated with any carrier. I'm sure they fed that line to the ding dongs over at the TCA too.

    It's called the internet LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Seriously though, you know those good rates you pay get watered down quite a bit when you run it through LS. You should actually increase your rate when you run it through them so you can attract better trucks after LS takes their cut.

We hauled a Frito Lay to Frito Lay load for Landstar. The bills I had said it was scheduled for delivery at 12 noon. The load confirmation said 7. When Lucy, my dispatcher, called the agent to ask him which one was correct, he was rude and genuinely annoyed we were calling him and wondered aloud why he even bothered to send load confirmations if we don't read them. I ended up following the noon delivery time. Got offloaded no problem.

I put a lot of stock in "Best Fleets to Drive for".... ....I particpated in the poll and our small company won runner up "Fleets to Watch". Before actually taking part in it I felt pretty much the same as you about it, that it was a joke.. Turns out it wasn't...

    I participated in an AT&T poll/review
once they kept rejecting mine cause I called their equipment junk after five attempts I said pols are conducted for an purpose and result. The ones conducting it will keep at it till they get what they want results wise. Not to say they are all wrong though.

statistics only state what the poll takers WANT it to say. Numbers are easy to manipulate.
