I had an preventable accident. They knew all the details of it and everything was fine and I was still leased on there but my truck was going to be down for 6-8 weeks. They asked about me getting a loaner truck while mine was down and since the insurance was going to cover my lease payments in the meanwhile I decided to just take the time off while waiting for the truck to be repaired. Next day after telling them that they called me and cancelled my lease saying it was because of the accident but they had already said before it was ok. What I think the reason is is because I had about $8000 in my maintenance fund and escrow and now they are bleeding all that away in weekly lease payments even though the insurance pays the downtime which covers the payment so they are getting paid twice for it. Believe me I quit recruiting last summer because a lot of things changed there. They drastically lengthened the leases and with elogs I just did not feel like a new lease driver had a good enough chance to succeed. I would not go there now knowing what I know now.

Not taking sides here but there's always two stories...
Not sure about the money part, but what trucking company and insurance company in they're right mind would keep a driver after an accident like that.
I'm surprised that truck wasn't totaled (maybe it was don't know). Trailer was ripped up, so totaled for sure. And that Texas state truck, pretty sure that's totaled. Injuries to those guys?
Two trucks to pickup that load of tires from the salvage yard... -
There are 2 sides to a story and it's always sad to hear from a disgruntled employee who wants to place blame on everything that happened on the company.Bigkid was a good driver and a well liked employee at ACT.When you rear end a construction truck in a convoy of 5 or 6 lighted(flashing lights, flashing arrows) truck doing 55 mph at 2am in the morning, you are going to be fired from almost any trucking co.The best thing that happened was that the driver in the construction truck wasn't killed.Bigkid knew he was fired at the time of the accident, which any driver would have known.ACT gave him the benefit of a doubt till the insurance company made their call after receiving all of the report's.
As far as Bigkid stating he has had no recruits in a year, that is totally false. He has had a recruit up until 2 months ago.Stating that ACT has drastically increased their lease term limits is also quite false.I had a recruit 2 months ago that leased a 2010,the same yr as mine and got 30 months which is exactly the same amount of months I have left on my lease.Yes on the new trucks the lease term as gone up 6 months, but in case anybody hasn't noticed the price of 2012 and 2013 trucks has gone up 10-15,000 dollars in price, with all the new emmisions and regulations.I really don't know of anything that has stayed the same or gone down in price in the last 2 or 3 yrs(Enlighten Me).
ACT has never cheated me or anybody I've heard of out of any money.Bigkid is making statement's about the company that I really don't believe. They will do the fair and right thing with his maint. acct. when the whole mess is straightened out.
The bottom line is that Bigkid made a huge mistake and should man-up and be thankful he didn't kill anybody.I think the reason for the accident was driver fatigue. How else do you not see a million flashing lights and still rear end a truck and never slow down at 2 am in the morning.
The reason I can make these statement's is because I was at the accident scene 1 hr after it happened and saw what happened and heard from the construction truck driver's that witnessed the wreck.I was sent there because they thought his load might have to be tranfered to my trailer because of the heavy damage to his truck and trailer.MoGooder and BlackLions Thank this. -
