She handed me the guy because he told her he applied because of this thread. That is what I meant by that. Trust me there have been many other drivers that post here that got recruits because of me doing this thread. I have even had guys that I should of gotten but switched when they were at orientation because other people on here offered them money to give it to them instead. There is even one who applied and was not getting hired at all because of where they lived so I talked to Marsha and got him in then he switched to someone else while at orientation because someone offered him money.

Pete said earlier he thought the accident was because of me being fatigued which is not the case. I have always been one to drive at night a lot more than most people do. I woke up 2 hours before the accident happened after 8 hours in the bunk. I have done this thread for about 2 years now and if people paid attention they would notice the vast majority of posts by me have been in the middle of the night. Not even working right now and I was up all night last night and never went to sleep til 10am this morning and slept til 5pm. I have always been that way.

Not sure who you're referring to bigkid when you're talking about people paying people off during orientation. If you're talking about me, yes I did talk to you, and three other drivers from Act when I was doing my research about companies to join. I put Cliff as the person who referred me as I felt you and the other two drivers didn't really offer needed info or honest info or talk to me as much as he did.

I talked to a couple drivers you recruited, and they quit not too much longer after they started because they've been lied to on this forum/thread. Between you and you best buddy fat Pat, not sure how many drivers you two recruited and screwed because you lied to them about miles, time off, etc.

Yes, I do believe this lease works for many but not for all. Some will succeed and some will fail, no one will just hand you a truck over. But you know that since you were doing really good and didn't have much left to go but you messed up. Like Pete said, good thing you didn't kill any of those workers.

By the way, doesn't matter how long you slept or rested - driving between 1am and 4am is the most dangerous time - easy to fall asleep. Good thing you were on paper logs so there were no mishaps with logs...

There's really nothing else left to say here, yes you're mad/pissed off you messed up and got fired. But as it's been said, at the accident scene you already knew you were fired - not sure why you would think or say that you would not be fired after an accident like that - and yes I've seen pictures so I do know how bad the truck/trailer looked. But anyways, good luck to you, be glad and praise the lord nothing bad/worse happened during that accident and move on.

People ask you questions in your thread on here and talk to you - they tell Marsha who referred them and you get credit. That's the way it works. Just make sure you tell the truth and not just try to get them in the door.

I had a few people PM me on here before but I didn't get them as referrals. I have a thread on here also but I'm usually to lazy to keep it updated like you or bigkid did. Talking to drivers at truck stops works better for me...

Anyways, I'm done here... bigkid was a good driver, but messed up and got fired for a good reason and that's life. No need to keep going back and forth, arguing like kids in here. Good night and keep on trucking!

Man I really hope that drivers aren't intentionally misrepresenting a company to get recruits. If you guys really are doing that I would encourage you to stop. Companies are finding new ways to screw drivers over every year us drivers don't need to turn on each, things ain't that bad yet.

I'm not saying you guys are doing that, but if you are take a second and think about that other persons family. Tell em the whole truth and let them decide based on facts don't turn tricks for a company.

The part I don't like is drivers splitting a recruiting bonus with a new recruit in order to get the recruit to use them as a referral.

Happened on I-635 in Garland,Tx. No warning signs at all and they were stopped in the 2nd from the right of 4 lanes. Truck had passed me just a little before it and swerved over at the last second. I had a car next to me on left and could not do the same. I tried going to the right lane and if I had 10 more feet I would of succeeded. I hit the rear of the truck with my left front corner and when we stopped the truck contracted to the state was actually next to me on the left.

Its good that no-one was injured in this accident. The bad part is trying to find another driving job with this on your record.

First of all, Sorry to hear of the accident. Glad no one was seriously hurt. Secondly, I think I'm being referred to here in some of this recruiting/referral posting. I just want to clear up the fact fact that yes, I did hire on with ACT mostly because of this thread. I had been thinking of giving a LP a go and decided to find out on my own. I applied first, then Marsha called me. I told her the details of how I found out about ACT and she had BK2 call me. We spoke maybe 5 minutes on the phone but the fact is I was already hired before I talked to him. He got the referral because of this thread sure, but there was no "splitting the referral bonus" or anything like that. No one approached me during orientation about an offer of money to "change my recruiter". I don't think I was lied to. I don't think anyone was being dishonest. What it boils down to is this. There are many facets of owing/buying a truck that are not always discussed in a forum like this. I made the choice to give it a shot and find out all the details. I also decided it didn't work for me, simple as that. Sure, in some of my previous posts I seem a bit disgruntled with the situation at the time. It's not so much being disgruntled as it was being disappointed. I think anyone would be. I wanted it to work, but simply could not justify the risk versus the benefit. No one forced me into it. No one bought me into it. I did all on my own and learned much from it in a short amount of time. I don't consider it a failure. To me, learning is never a failure, even if you learn it's not right for you.
