I'm on elogs, can manage to put time on line 4 for pretrip, checking-in at shippers/receivers, log time spent on-dock, fueling, etc - and still have plenty of time to drive. I even manage to log my line 1 and 2 time... including multiple stops for rest room breaks. Oh, yeah and the dog has to go too.

My contention is that if you're logging it like you drive it on paper, then elogs is no different. If you feel compelled to falsify your paper log book in order to make enough money, then one really needs to find a better job. And stop lying.

BTW... in my paper log days, I did what everyone else did/does.

So I guess you are saying only those on paper can bend the rules? Sadly we on E logs can bend rules as well. It's all about working smarter not harder. Bad part is sometimes the rules you try to bend and the E logs don't always work out, but those of us who where whizzes on paper. Best believe we can do some things on E logs, but no where in the range of what a guy on paper can do. Again your complaint is against the recording device and not with the crazy laws.

For example the other day in Arkansas there was a bad wreck and the detour caused 10 miles to get to the exit to turn into 3 hours. I lost time in the stop and go. So I was still on schedule to make my appointment then I hit Atlanta traffic. I could of stopped at the Petro and not go to Norcross Ga to deliver my load 20 miles. Or I could take the violation get a slap on the risk and deliver the load on time. So I took the slap on the risk and got the load delivered. Won't be receiving my safety bonus for the quarter I don't think. Went over my hours by 30 minutes do to the traffic. But it's business as usual. Not sure why so many make it seem like root canal work. I figured if I would of got pulled over. The fine for going over your hours by 5 minutes is the same as the fine will be for going over by 9 hours. So getter done!!

People are still ''falsifying'' e-logs...E-LOGGERS have a hard time admitting they are FALSIFYERS TOO..

With the new rule to be going into place, the 5 minutes wouldn't be much but an egregious violation would be very costly, remember the rules are going to change, and that particular one probably will stand, unless they are all thrown out in court. It's too bad that the 14 can't be extended for adverse events, but the thing with sacred cows is that they can't be touched.

Even with live haul, a phone call will get the load picked up and possibly another trailer brought to you for the next load, but it makes for an interesting day.

At present, I hate ending up at my second to last drop and getting held up while they verify the paperwork, the company will adjust as needed later anyway, but they manually take down each weight and check against the invoice, which was done on the other end by readers, they might get a box not counted(that has happened), but it isn't on the invoice if it wasn't read, so they aren't getting billed for something they didn't get. Just the way some places work.

I can only speak for me but I know I need boundaries, because without boundaries. Pride can take over and you can end up hurting yourself and other. I thank God for all those years of running out law I didn't kill anybody or tear up something. My pride would say you did the 1,000 miles a few days ago so you can't do it again. What happen are you losing your touch. You getting old. These companies know how to play with your pride, and as Truck drivers I believe most of us take pride in our work, and getting the job done. So for some of us Elogs are our boundary helper. Now I came to the company they didn't have E logs but after an bad audit we were forced to get them. So instead of keep running from E logs I decided to make them work for me. So far so good. I think the less stress of going around scales and spending hours trying to make my log book legal. Pays for the extra money I would be making by doing a 34 hr reset by tearing out my last few days of driving saying I had been at that place all that time. Man my eyes were always red, and I drunk mountain dew like it was Ice cold spring water in a desert land. I don't miss it one bit.
