I really can not understand how you are not makeing money teaming. I recently drove team guaranteed pay 1000 a week and generally made a lot more than that. Granted we never stopped except to fuel and restroom. Generally showered when running early and grabbed a bite to eat when we fueled or restroom breaks. Home every weekend. For me it was a decent gig. Now I run solo on a dedicated run make the same money and I'm home every night and weekends. In my younger days I was hungry and out 3 to 4 months at a time and able to buy all the stuff to make my life comfortable. Now as I get older my home time becomes more important to be able to enjoy the things I put my time in for when I was younger. Every ones situation is different but I feel starting out when you have a family is very hard as you are not going to make the money an experianced driver makes and it is harder to find jobs.

Gee... What planet did you fly in from... Only a select few types of jobs in trucking pay company drivers $60-75K... and you need to have 3-5 years experience to get them. Plus you have to live in an area where the cost of living is relatively high.

Thats not entirely true. While I do have 7 yrs prior,.. albeit 15 yrs ago. I have less then 1.5 recent and I am making exactly what you posted. To me its a matter of finding the right employer at the right time and sticking to your guns when you make your deal coming in the door. Then following through with your end of the deal once hired. Oh,.. and I live in central Fla on the west coast and still get respectable home time.

Screw the driver mills and big companies. Show some fortitude, work hard and you will succeed in what ever you do.

    Guys,

I will probably get laughed at for what I am about to say. I work in pizza delivery and make an average of $11 an hour. I only work 16 hours cause thats all I need. I once made $100 in a night because I worked seven hours. I made $170+ in one busy night. As a result, I had the next four days off. If you can either wait tables or deliver pizza 35 hours a week at a busy pizza place or resturant, you can make good money. Bartenders will admit that. However, you are forced to deal with people and all of us know some people lack that. When I worked for 7-11 in 07, my store mgr made 35K and as a newbie, you can make that driving. Those who possess talent besides driving can make some good dough if they have the connections.

It appears to me that so many people think trucking is a ''Get Rich Quick Scheme''..In reality it is a burger flipper job anymore with lots and lots of regulations, rules and cheap labor..

IMO the GOOOBERMENT has destroyed trucking, ranching and farming...What's next for the GOOOOBERMENT to take and destroy from the people..

I wonder if these Donald Trump truckers realize that waitresses make 1000+ a week home everyday. And not near the responsabilitys of a trucker..Around every bend they want to put truckers in PRISON..:biggrin_2556:

I think thats a bit of an exaggeration. While there may be a few making $1000 a week,.. they are the exception and if I had to guess account for less than 10%. The majority working Dennys, Ihop, Olive Garden, TGIF etc do not. My son is a waiter at Olive Garden working his way through school. He's only 19. Works part time 4 nights a week. They combine their tips and have to share it with other staff including the bus boys and dish washers. He says only cash tips are theirs and theirs alone and typically the cheap 10% tippers generally do cash. The 15 - 20% tippers do it on CC and has to be taxed accordingly. He makes anywhere from $250 on a slow week to $350 - $450 when the snow birds are in town. Not bad money 20 yrs ago,.. barely enough for a single guy to survive in todays economy and gas prices.

Your finding a good gig in trucking... percentage wise... is an exception... and not the norm... and anyone who thinks waitresses in general make a $1000 a week have not been married to one for 25 years... not even close...

BTW... my wife would like to know where waitresses are making a thousand dollars a week...?
