You're better off not knowing how to drive a manual. Seriously. You won't have those habits you need to break. Driving a standard in a truck is a bit different than driving a standard in a car.

I was concerned about this as well. I recently met with the instructor of the truck driving school and he was almost relieved to know that I could not drive a manual and said most of the time it is much easier to teach a newbie than to retrain someone who has been driving manual for years.

i had never driven a CAR..before learning to drive a truck, let alone a manual....
you will be fine.....
DO NOT go to driving school and learn on an automatic....that will limit you in carrier choices.....learn on a manual...
i have driven 22 years without and accident...and my fav trans is an 18...and to this day, i still cant drive a manual 4 wheeler......dont ask...i dont know....gearjammer1978 Thanks this. -
After driving a big rig for so long, I can't drive a standard pickup to save my life. Always seems like I've never driven a standard before.
You may notice after a while when you switch from the truck to a regular vehicle, you may try to shift it manually. Sometimes I will get in my pickup and my left foot will automatically slap the floor.
I ran wheel loader for some time and found myself trying to reverse direction in my vehicle by flicking the signal lights. Nearly broke the lever once.gearjammer1978 Thanks this.
