You're better off not knowing how to drive a manual. Seriously. You won't have those habits you need to break. Driving a standard in a truck is a bit different than driving a standard in a car.

Why in the world would anyone want to do that? Makes no sense at all to me. Unless, perhaps, there was a physical handicap involved.

I was concerned about this as well. I recently met with the instructor of the truck driving school and he was almost relieved to know that I could not drive a manual and said most of the time it is much easier to teach a newbie than to retrain someone who has been driving manual for years.

NOT TRUE! Where did you ever get that mistaken idea. We always agree on everything, and this post is the proof of that!:biggrin_25522:

i had never driven a CAR..before learning to drive a truck, let alone a manual....

    you will be fine.....

DO NOT go to driving school and learn on an automatic....that will limit you in carrier choices.....learn on a manual...

i have driven 22 years without and accident...and my fav trans is an 18...and to this day, i still cant drive a manual 4 wheeler......dont ask...i dont know....

After driving a big rig for so long, I can't drive a standard pickup to save my life. Always seems like I've never driven a standard before.

You may notice after a while when you switch from the truck to a regular vehicle, you may try to shift it manually. Sometimes I will get in my pickup and my left foot will automatically slap the floor.

I ran wheel loader for some time and found myself trying to reverse direction in my vehicle by flicking the signal lights. Nearly broke the lever once.
