ooOOoo I'll get it someday. So, you think Schneider would be an OK choice?

He could do worse. He won't get home a lot. Pay is not all that great, but I hear they have good training. Most tend to move on after they get exp to better paying jobs.

Good enough. The training is most important. As long as the pay can be close to 30K, that's also good enough. He just has to have 6mos to 2 yrs before he can get anything local. Save wisely so you can retire before 58.

It is not so much as what you make. It is more of what you spend when you are out. I tend to not buy anything out there. I stock up before I go out and use my payback card for showers and coffee. I do like a good sit down meal once a week and treat myself to one every week. I cook in my truck and try to eat out of the truck. I pack enough clothes that I seldom do laundry at a truck stop. I will do it at one of our yards since it is free there. You can spend 10-20 bucks doing laundry at a truck stop.

THAT is all very good advice. When the time comes, you bet I'll be asking you how to set it all up. I'm anxious to see just how much room is in that sleeper and what can be added to it.

Scneider is pretty picky about inverters. Don't add anything that he can't easily remove during hometime because their website says they do slipseat.

Has he tried getting hired at Crete? Roehl? KLLM? They seem to be 3 of the best around here.

Actually no, he hasn't tried them. I did read a very good post about Crete today. I submitted his info on one of these online multi application places and many responded. Truthfully, I think he talked to so many of them that they all started sounding the same. Because I don't have any friends in the industry to ask, I have been so thankful for this forum and responders. But, the end result was that Schneider seemed to be the most aggreable to inexperienced drivers and provides the best training before actually going on the road. My hope is that they don't pay so little we end up bankrupt, but the priority has to be that he has the safest training. Should I check with those you mentioned?

RE: Slipseat - I'll check that out. The recruiter told him that they do not do that. I guess there is much to learn. It's all starting to sound like an industry where what you are told and the truth are two different things.

I would check into the companies I mentioned before deciding on Schneider - Especially Crete in MY opinion - and I'm sure the opinion of many others.

And as far as the slip seating goes, it says it plain as day on their website that they do slip seat, however some will say it rarely happens, and maybe that's the point the recruiter was trying to get across??

Go ahead and check into KLLM also. I've heard nothing but praise about them from this site. I really wish I could hire on with them. I'm too young for Crete, and out of Roehl and KLLM's hiring areas.

Also I've heard good things about Prime and Watkins Shepard.
