A west coast Hello!

Looking to get back into trucking of some kind after a 12 year career change to be able to spend time raising kids.

I happened upon this forum, and cannot believe the amount of great information on here. I can see where I am going to be spending a LOT of time on here researching.

I have a number of years accident free OTR hauling everything from tankers with pups, hanging meat, produce, oversize oilfield equipment from Edmonton to Houston, pipe to NFLD from Texas, and back home to start again. I REALLY enjoyed moving oversized loads and moving, setting up modular homes. Just loved all the technical parts of figuring out exactly how to get a large load into a small spot, mostly off road.

Spent the last decade working in the commercial and recreational marine world. Worked as a rep for marine electronics and have found my way onto more yachts for consulting and design than I can recall. The work has been interesting, and flexible in hours but certainly does not pay like trucking.

Which is why I still keep a clean current class one!

I am in my mid 40s, drug free, reliable and hard working. I volunteer with the local fire department, and am a fairly decent sort of a guy.

So, I am thinking about getting back into driving by going to work the oil patch. Trying to figure out where to start, what to aim for, and of course what tickets to get before I apply.

I am fortunate as I previously lived in Edmonton and have a place to stay there when I return. Due to the wife's job, our property, and the kids schooling I will not be relocating them and have decided to look for more of a camp job. Kids are used to me being gone for 3 weeks at a time, so looking for some sort of job with rotation similar to that.

Any thoughts or ideas on what to do, where to look, and what tickets to have would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You a funny guy.......LOL! Not those tickets thanks. Got my new OFA1 done, next is Whmis and H2S, and maybe a few more, so I am just ready to interview and get to work.

Really looking forward to seeing what is out there, thinking I will do all my courses over the spring and summer and plan on heading to work in the fall. We will see how it goes.

Any one here have any experience with Leduc Safety? Thinking about taking a week off to go get all tickets on one shot and then start applying for jobs.

Anyone know of any BC location to get fall arrest and a few other courses?
