Little Rock based newbie

Well thank you very much. But I'm just passing along my point of view that I've picked up from reading here over the last several months.

 

You could do worse then schneider, at least if he don't make it, they will treat him allright and put him on a bus for home. That idea about the treadmill is not a bad one, if he does a little conditioning, it won't hurt him. Check with web MD to see if thier is a heart smart isometric program he can follow, once he is OTR (over the road) he will want to do some occasonal exercise anyway. drive55cat

 

BlueKat, I may be wrong, but I believe that all the hype about Schneider's training is the training to get the CDL, which your husband already has. Since he has his CDL, he'll go in and they'll test him and if he passes, they'll send him out with a trainer to drive with. And unless I'm mistaken, that aspect of their training isn't what all the hype is about.

Keep in mind also, I *think* that I've read on this site somewhere that sometimes people go to Schneider fresh out of trucking school, and Schneider still wants to put them in their 3 week program which requires an 18 month comittment. Now like I said, I *think* I've read that a couple times. Don't take my word for it as gospel, but do keep it in mind as another avenue of research to explore before making your final decision.

PS, I went to Little Rock back in June to visit a friend. Beatiful city. I stayed at the RedRoof inn in North LR right off 40 on Pritchard Dr. The museum downtown by the river market was a real treat.

 

I have had newbies tell me they had a CDL and did not go with snidey because they were going to make them take their training because they had no exp.
