I prefer night driving. Just be prepared for the switch back to days, especially if you go flatbed, since our deliveries are almost always in the mornings, with a pick up shortly after that.

Personally, I prefer 4a to 6p because I can't sleep worth a crap during the day. If I could sleep during the day, then I would prefer nights for traffic/parking reasons.

As far as sleep schedule driving anytime works for me.
After being up for 15+ hours I'm ready to go to sleep, whether that be 7am or 3pm.

On the weekends i tend to take it easy but during the week I'm up no later than 9 o clock.
I prefer to begin after morning rush hour, end after evening rush hour and waaay before the drunks leave the bars.
You'd rarely catch me driving from 1am to 6am.

After 33 years and just doing trailer delivery now I have earned my solar powered driving status and my weekends off !

Now I drive mostly 6 am until about 6 pm and in bed by 8 pm but then I am old and grouchy and I need my rest .

I am the old fart that gets up and trucks for my 11 then I stop but I am about to learn a new trick with the new hours of service so I will now be a safe driver after 33 years and almost 4 million accident free miles !!!

I thank god my government is here to save me from myself !!!!

Its highly unlikely you are going to have the same schedule everyday out there over the road. Your pick ups and deliveries are going to be all hours of the day. You can sometimes, somewhat choose your driving schedule but ultimately you have to do what's needed to get the job done. If the load delivers at 3 am then you have to be there for that time. You may have a pick up the next day at 4pm.

It will probably take a little getting used to but I can tell you now that one of the downfalls of being an over the road driver (or local) is that your sleep schedule is always out of whack.

    Guntoter and tl385 Thank this.

True dat Chompi If you're a rookie you will NOT be getting the dedicated delivery at 4 PM everyday sort of thing.

well, we are in the last few generations that were taught how to think on our own. Prior to calculators, computers and IPADS, that do for and tell folks how to think these days. Now a days, few seem to care if the Government does their bidding. People used to stand up and fight back at one time in this country. Big Union strikes, war protests, civil rights marches, etc... Not anymore, roll over and lick em and take the next kick...
