WalMart usually hires multiple drivers when they hire. You will work weekends, you may or may not get home during the week, but you will be home every week. The benefits are decent, the money is excellent, the work is easy. Don't be mistaken, they are interviewing you. If you meet all their qualification, then it is going to be about how they think you will fit it. Be friendly, act like really do want to work for them and are excited about having the opportunity. In other words, sell your self. No, you don't have to tell them what a "super trucker" you are. They know that by your record. They will be looking for someone who wants to be a part of the "team" and will bleed Wal Mart blue!

Wal Mart is changing. Ol Sam's philosophy is no longer more than lip service. It is all about the bottom line now days. That said, the money is excellent, and it is still a good place to work. The driver's used to have a lot of input as to who got hired, the "good ol boy" system. Somebody didn't get hired and sued, female I think, and now all the ones chosen for interviews at the local DCs are selected from the apps by some committee, in Bentonville I think. There is no way to influence their selection....unless you are related to one of them! Once you get to the interview part, it's all in your hands. Good luck!

P.S. Your job sounds like one I would hang onto if it was me. But I'm already retired from one job. Of course you can increase your yearly salary by about 30- 40k if you are willing to work........tempting isn't it?:biggrin_25525: (they have almost a 0 turn over rate. New hires don't quit, but they smile a lot. The old guys gripe and complain all the time, but they don't quit. There is a reason for all this.....even with all the changes, nobody is jumping ship.)

Never understood why a company like Wally world don't make scheduled meets where a driver could swap and return home to Mommy instead of lying around in the Jack shack all week. They could leave the weekend work with all the outside minimum wage haulers.

Thank you to all who have replied to my inquiry thus far. It certainly won't be a problem showing them 'Walmart blue blood'. This has been quite a milestone just to get an interview. Any further comments, advice and experiences are still welcome. Thanks again.

Hey NYVET, I had my interview with WM last month. My uncle had started with them about 5-6 months earlier. It is all about selling yourself to them. The questions are random safety, customer, road questions. They are different for ever interview. It will only be you for your appt. interview. They conduct things on a one on one basis. Like your email told you, dress business casual, it will be you, the GMT of the DC you applied at and two other persons via web camera from Bentonville. Don't speak badly about any previous companies you worked for. Be truthful. Most importantly, be early! Once you get through the first part, they will take you to do pre-trip and road test. Study up on your pre-trip. fine tooth comb we are talking here!

I will be starting my orientation on June 3rd in a class of 7 drivers! What DC did you apply too?

Nyvet. That's really good advice about don't speak badly about past jobs. It's a big deal there to not speak ill of the competition and in negative manner. Yiu have turn things.. So if they say, tell about company x and why you left... Find something positive to say about them and highlight something about yourself. So even if the company sucked and had poor equipment, but the safety manager was great.. You can say something like.. The safety manager was very hands on, I liked how he was pro-active.

    I won't consider Wal-mart a job. Wal-mart as a proffesional driver is a career. A job is J-ust O-ver B-roke.
