Huh? How exactly did you pass the air brake portion of the CDL written test? :biggrin_2556:

There is no "return" line on an air brake system.

I had an o-ring blow once on the service side right there on the back of the cab where the glad hand lines thread into the tractor system. Cracked air line, blown o-ring or perhaps a pinched glad hand grommet on the service line.

I'm betting he has a parking brake chamber (maxi) on the trailer blown and leaking air to the service side and out the service relay valve exhaust.

My company has like 30 local trks.We have an airleak the mechanics will fix it immediately. This poster has every right to be concerned.Mechanics say nothing wrong. The poster should take the trk to the shop and show them exactly where the problem is.Maybe they're on the wrong page and thinking something entirly different .

I had a similar problem. Air leak while trailer brakes applied. I could pull trailer brake handle and hear a lot of air leaking under the cab of my 379 pete. Discovered leak while backing into dock. Got mt and pulled trailer to TA trk stop ( 1/2 mile. Lucky it was close). It was a a valve leaking . Without trailer there was no leak. Left trailer at TA and went to freightliner dealer and they had the valve in stock. Took it to TA and got it installed. No way I would pulled a trailer far with that leak. I thnk the valve might be called a tractor protection valve. No one can make u operate unsafe equipment. I will try to get to a shop but not if it puts lives at risk.Sometimes u gotta say no and tell others how things are gonna go. I have done it just a few times in 20 years. Some have to be told 2 or 3 times. But they will come around. If someone gets hurt due to blatant disregard to safety I predict jail, no career, and financial ruin. Don't ever allow yourself to be pressured to do something dangerous.
