okay so i have a n14 cummins engine and i just replaced the second injector and after replacing it, every-time i go to turn the truck off it wont start again. This is starting to cause problems because it takes a while to start after i give it some of that starting fluid. What could be the problem here? Is the injector involved in some way because this happened right after i replaced the injector? Please give me your opinions and what could be the problem! thanks.

Whats the fuel pressure coming out of the fuel pump? Is there any air getting into the fuel system and losing prime?

Had the same problem on a international dont know what motor. Sometimes I had to spin it well over a minute befors the truck would even try to crank. Mechanic said it was the injector cups. I no longer drive that truck so idk if thats what it was or not.

what fuel filter is on it? should be an fs1000 fleetguard. N14s are very sensitive to what filter they have on them.

You might have cut/shaved/rolled an injector o-ring when installing the injector allowing fuel to drain from the fuel rail and into the crankcase oil. Check your engine oil level to see if you are gaining on the oil level on the dipstick. Smell the engine oil for fuel content. Put some engine oil between two fingers and rub fingers together. Does the oil feel slick or gritty with resistance to slipping. If you are gaining on your oil level and you continue to run the truck you will eventually wash out the bearings from lack of lubrication from fuel dilution.

Same motor. Had same problem. 1st I replaced the fuel filter no luck. Next I replaced the check valve, stopped for a week or two. I finally replaced some solenoid on the firewall problem stopped.

I had my check valve go, did same thing... Check valve stops fuel already in motor from draining back to the tanks when u shut it off.. Replaced it, never had another issue

i had a leaky fuel pump. tanks got below half and idle was erratic and engine required starting fluid.

new fuel pump lasted 4 weeks and i was back to starting fluid all the time.
