Yeah, I drive a blue truck!! I left CFI, after a bit over a year, to relocate in northern Michigan back in Oct of last year to drive for a small company. All went well until my 2nd week. That's when it was found that their insurance carrier wouldn't cover me due to less than 2 years experience. While there, I dinged up the cab fairing on my assigned truck. That had nothing to do with why I left, or no insurance coverage. The company never even turned it in to their carrier. While at CFI, I was accused of knocking the door off another companies trl while backing. Since I really couldn't prove that I didn't do it, I swallowed and accepted responsibilty.
Now, Werner took me on without a second thought. So far, in all fairness, I've been treated very well by my driver managers. No complaints there at all. But, and it's a BIG but, I haven't made jack %&^#. I "thought" I was hiring in at .36 per mile. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was only getting .28.
I have been trying to find a better paying place, with nicer trucks, I might add, but am having no luck. I guess I could be termed an "international" driver since I'm driving Canada for Werner, am a F.A.S.T. driver with passport and am very familiar with Ontario and Quebec. I've held these same credentials for almost a year now. That includes my 2nd year of winter in eastern Ontario, as well as Quebec. Those that have been there know what I mean!!LOL.
Just what are my options? I've never had a real accident, never an injury to anyone, no moving violations. What do I have to do to get back to a company I'd be happy with?
I'm desperate, even though am employed.

    Signed; Frustration is mounting.:biggrin_1square8::biggrin_1square8:

Keep looking, you'll find something. Most likely a small company out of your area,

Based on what you're telling us, you could do much better with JB Hunt IMO.

Oh yeah J.B. will take me, but do I really want to stoop that low? I do have a little self esteem!!:biggrin_25517::biggrin_25517:

    1. only 1 accident that was reported? in the past 3 years? and your DAC reflects this?
2.No negatives on your DAC such as truck abandonment?
    3.Clean MVR?
    4.More then 2 year OTR?

If you can say yes to all of the questions above you should have no problem going just about anywhere you want....
If No to one of the questions please clarify becuase I must of skipped something in your post..

This is one big mistake that I would want clarified before I ran another load for them first of all.

With your record and the willingness to do cross boarder work I am wondering why you went to a bottom feeder like Werner in the first place?

Anyone who is not a student should not be working for any outfit in 2008 that pays $.28 per mile period. I need to know nothing else about a carrier if they actually pay their drivers a wage like that these days.

Apply to work their and pass a physical and road test.

The only one I can say no to is #4. At present I've got 16 months in. Am I being too honest on my applications? I do tell them about dinging up the cab fairing. Or maybe I'm just not applying to the right companies. I'd like to stay in Canada because of my wifes health, but a regional thing in the Great Lakes area could work as well. I think it can be seen that I need to be reasonably close.

A friend of mine once told me that cab fairings act much in the same way as golf balls. All the dings in them are important to the aerodynamics, which is why you don;t see a fairing without them.

If that incident isn;t listed anywhere, then I wouldn't say anything about it. if it is documented in a publicly available record, that the new employer has reasonable access to, then you need to be open about it. but if not, then don't mention it. I am sure that over the years, I have managed to crack a taillight lens or back into a fence post, but without any records of that, why ever mention it to a prospective employer.

Have you tried Celadon trucking? I say this because we now have a new fleet that goes to Canada (I don't know all the details). I do know it's not all Canada (I dont think). That's if you want that run. They only require I think (do NOT hold me to this) 3 months experience. Again don't hold me to any of this, one day I will refresh my knowledge of what you need to hire in there. Right now I have to many drivers NOT LISTENING TO ME (PITBULL) :biggrin_25523:

If you do the Canada run you will have # least a 24 hour period off duty/sleeper because that's a Canada requirement :). I do know they pay a little extra a mile or per load not sure it's something they just started doing and umm it's Friday # 11:39.
Send me a message if you are interested and I will give you the nicest recruiter to deal with!
