Hello, new to the forum. I am seriously thinking about getting started in the rv transport industry. Who is the best company to get started with. If i get into this industry there will not be much room for me to fail so need some good advice.

You will meet with fail as there are no backhauls.

Important advice - if you can't fail, you can't afford to take a chance on this business.

As mentioned, there are no real backhauls.

I agree with the above statement. If you can't fail try something else. Be a company driver for a trucking company.

With that said there are alot of companies out there. The biggest 3 are Horizon, Star Fleet and Indiana Transport.

I am making money doing this but I'm gone 2 to 3 weeks a month before coming home. I don't live in Indiana so that it one reason I stay out that long. My truck has been a money pit. Its in the shop again and will be in the $4k area when I get it out Friday.

6 new injectors, front u-joints (replaced both last year in Feb and one 2 months ago), rotors turned, new pads, new #4,#5,#6 injector lines (had one go bad on the road, replaced w/used one to get going, doing those for my peace of mind. Servicing front, rear, trans and transfer case. Replacing leaking rear mail seal.

Went in because it wasn't running right and was smoking at idle. I wanted them to check over truck and see what all they saw wrong. Took to a new shop an hour away because of the good reviews.

These trucks rarely have a leaking rear main seal. But some do.

Where did you get the injectors?

I buy my parts from O'reilly so I get the lifetime warranty on them. The place that does the labor is okay with me doing this. Otherwise, if they do it, I only get a short 3,000 mile warranty.

Has anyone heard anything about hoosier transport? They have a division for a class 6 or 7 truck that pulls a step down flatbed. they have good pay and they say there is a pretty good percentage of getting a back haul. After all you can transport anything on a flat bed.

Truck never leaked oil before rebuild. Took it back twice to rebuild shop and they replaced valve cover gasket and rear main seal. I think they screwed it up somehow. So I took it to a new shop and will hold them responsible from now on. They are organized and can get me in and out quick.

I'm not sure where they got the injectors. They are Bosch 50+HP for the same $ as stock. I need to learn how to do injectors after this set.

In my opinion, you screwed up with the increased hp injectors.

I run a totally stock truck and do not have the maintenance issues you have. You mess with the truck, you pay the price.

    truckon Thanks this.
