My son was one of the best drivers in his class at Katlaw truck driving school in Austell, Ga. He has gone and failed the driving test twice. they must have gotten a lot more anal since I took the driving test 6 years ago. they failed him for little unimportant mistakes. first time it was for getting out more than twice to check the alignment for the parallel parking. the second time His backing and parking was perfect, and then he took the road test. the testing officer had him turn right into a single lane on a very crowded street. His trailer wheel just scaped the curb, and didnt roll up on the curb. He was failed for this mistake alone. None of the drivers who went with him in the truck passed the driving test. they all have to wait a month and pay $300 to retake the test for the third time.
I have been driving over the road for 6 years and have no accidents and no tickets. I really doubt that I could pass the Georgia driving skills test . they are really getting anal about it and failing drivers for just the slightest infraction . what can we do about it?

Maybe request a different tester.Sounds kind of like this DMV may all stick together though and in it for the money. The more they fail ppl the more money they receive to have the students retest.

Or you could go to the DMV and talk to them about how strict this tester is and ask them why bhe does'nt pass anybody, surely not all drivers are that bad except under his watch.Tell them the things he failed your son on.Maybe theyll retest him sooner at no cost or at a lower cost.

the first time when failed to do getting out and looking was bad on the tester and maybe the school he attended. i believe in AZ you can GOAL 3 times before the note it but isnt a auto failure the second time with the curb check is a auto failure in even AZ. curb checks are bad to instructors cause of possible pedestrian harm. another option is maybe look to a third party tester for the road test, if that is even an option in georgia

Maybe he should of went to a better school....

And NO, we don't need to make the tests easier, I don't know how some of these drivers could even get their license by how they drive.

well what do you expect for those 2-3 week schools lol i trained at a PTDI and took 4 months to go through it and my driver trainer loved me said i was his first rookie driver that he felt confident enough to sleep after the second day of driving. but did have issues with backing up in tight/tricky docks but who didnt at first.

Seems like the tester is either on a power trip or has a quota for revenue.
I would try different testing centers or even go so far as to a different state, if you have relatives or friends in another state to use their address.

I can agree with some things on this however others I cannot. The scrubbing curbs with the tires and failing is b.s. in my opinion. Every driver on the road has scrubbed if not run over a curb don't care who you are you're a liar if you say you haven't. However I can disagree on the goal failing. At least he had ONE chance to goal. Its a fail up here if you goal mirrors and mirrors alone you can open the door, and look out the window, but you CANNOT get out to look and check alignment. However I know where you are coming from south Carolina is the same way. I failed the pretrip because the dumb broad was worried about an inspection sticker on a trailer and kept pulling me off my pti test to check that sticker.

I would recommend finding a 3rd party tester if GA allows it however they're hit and miss as well. My buddy used a 3rd party tester and the guy was easy on him. My 3rd party tested docked me for refusing to turn into a left turn only lane that was only 100ft long during rush hour on a Friday.

But I understand where you are coming from for sure. Sad thing is I'm sure somebody going for their class o licence can run over curbs never signal and drive the wrong way down a one way and they'll still pass. Just the way society and the government is now days.

Went to that school and took that test. I am sure that it was drilled in his head, like mine, that you only get 2 get outs and scrubing a curb was an automatic failure. The school has faults, but not letting the students know that these are part of the rules is not one of them.
