A little off track... Charlotte, NC has race weekend this Sat/Sun. If you need to pass thru Charlotte look for alternate routes. Traffic will be bumper to bumper.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I'm liking the 520...The road construction info is great and so is the weather overlay on the map.

Its is also giving me better routes than my previous GPS (fully updated 465t)...less out of route miles...the RM unit is more likely to use any legal truck route than the 465t...of course this all depend on how you have the settings on both devices, which is another area where the 520 is better than the 465t...the routing options (road types) and settings.

Good job RM...for your efforts towards keeping the data on the unit current and useful...and making it easy for the user to do.

Still looking forward to the Traffic Everywhere....

One thing I would like though...just something that is purely preference...separate the day and night mode from the light and dark maps.

That way the user could use the dark map themes all the time and the unit would still go dim at sunset...I prefer the darker map colors.

    Did that make sense?

You can go under preferences/general/day-night map colors --- set to always night.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Yes...but then it won't go dim (brightness) at sunset.

I didn't explain it very good in that first post...but brightness is tied into it also.

You can control the Brightness for day or night under the brightness setting.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    OK...I'm not making myself clear.

What I'd like to be able to do is...use the dark theme maps and not have to manually adjust the brightness for day and night.

As it is setup now if you use the dark maps, that is night mode only...and the brightness setting stays the same at sunset.

Again...I'm not knocking the unit, I like it just fine...I'm just offering up an idea that might make it a more pleasant experience for some.

Mark, I have a routing issue with the 720 (don't I always?) but this one's a whopper: I'm going from Salem OR to north of Coeur d' Alene ID and it wants to route me over 1200 mi thru southern ID when the actual mi is 400plus. Even if I just route to Spokane it does the same thing! I think the 720 has a problem with US395/I-90. (I've had this prob before) I've tried updating it and also resetting it but to no avail. Please fwd this info to the appropriate personnel. Thx.

I don't "need" the routing, really, but I like being able monitor the ETA and miles remaining. That's one of the best things about this device.

I understand what you are saying. I am offering suggestions with the current SW that might help out.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Preferences/route

    I have mine set to
    Route - Fastest
Freeways - allow (433 miles), prefer (529 miles)
    Tollways - avoid
    U-Turns - Avoid
    Ferries - Avoid
    Cross Country - Allow
    Dirt roads - Avoid
    Tunnels - Allow
    Fast ReCalc - On.

    Route going OR-22/99e to I-205 to I-84 to I-82 to US-395 to I-90 (allow)
Route going OR-22 to I-5 to I-405 to I-90 (prefer)

Sounds like maybe you have a set a road to avoid.

Once in route go to the Cog on the bottom left on the map screen and hit the Avoid List tab and see if you have any roads set to avoid.

    Thanks,
    Mark
