To me, I dont think its safe to pass on a 2 lane unless you can go at least 15mph faster than the vehicle that you want to pass.

I learned this the hard way (experience). Tapping my brakes, and letting the other truck get by me is so much less stressful than "making" that SOB work to get by me.

At the same time, I "would" like to pass another truck going 1 mph slower than me, so I don't have to keep hitting the brakes for the next 100 miles. But unless the other driver is willing to "tap" his brakes, it's an exercise in frustration.

BUT, I was in FL two weeks ago (flatter than hell), and came up on a Davis truck, he must have been going 2-3 miles/hr less than me, and I went into the left lane to pass. THEN, he decided to speed up! Slowed down a few Big trucks (and went into the illegal left lane to let them pass, since they were apparently scared to do that), it took me, maybe, 10 miles to pass him, but I did not give a ####. Sometimes you just get pissed.

And, as I got even with him, the stupid ####### had the gall to smile and wave, like he had no idea what an ####### he was being.

Sorry, I am a good and courteous driver 99.999999% of the time, but sometimes I guess I just lose it.

    Good point,
The sad thing is that 99% of the drivers will never lift off the throttle for a second to let the other truck pass.
Just no courtesy on the road these days.

My truck is not governed but i will still let off if another driver wants around. All it takes is about 2 seconds of lifting off the throttle to let the guy around you.
No big deal and it does not ruin my day.

Apparently this guy has never run any highways in Chicago...try running 55 thru there lol you will probably cause an accident...there are times where it is safer to run with traffic than following the speed limit. My truck is governed at 69 and the way I see it, if you can run faster good for you most of us would be running with you if we could! I try not to be a d*** to other drivers, most of these guys just don't care

the proper thing to do is back out of the throttle and let the passing vehicle go around.i have a 65 mile an hour truck and do it all the time, hasn't hurt me yet.

im always below the speed limit and do the best to stay out of everybodies way , i dont care how you operate your your truck cause every one has differant loads, time schedules, driving habits and rates of pay. by being below the speed limit i always have open road in front of me which is safe, less stressful and expands my reaction time and my fuel, maintanace and insuance cost are low. on two lane roads i will step it up to the speed limit if im holding up traffic. if you must speed to pass me i will slow down and let you go. i stopped playing the hurry up and wait game long time ago and still seem to make the same money happy trails

If you do 55 in the right lane in Chicago you're alright since you're the only one that will ever be in it unless you get to a traffic jam. Oh, I forgot, if the sign says right lane closed 1 mile, then everyone will jump into the right lane as well.
