okay so I've called DOT FBI AND ATF. Atf says it doesn't matter commercial vehicle or not only matters if the state's honor my cwp of which I will be travelling thru.dot says it must be in a locked compartment other than the glove boxand not accessible to the driver immediately from the driver seat and unloaded. FBI says as long as I keep it on me and not about in the truck that its legal do any of you guys have any experience with this ?

Just showing how easy it is to look elsewhere. Your thread will end up there anyway. Waste of bandwith.

Do as the ATF told you. Know & follow the law for each state you travel. I have never had an issue doing so.

wow the courtesy of the board ....gotta love it

if DOT states it must be in a locked compartment other than the glove box and not accessible to the driver immediately from the driver seat and unloaded thats the law while driving cdl .., unfortunately the fbi agent cant vouch when your in that situation nor can any other official , sadly gun law is very interpretive and changes with every single leo on the road

Im not a driver just yet but have traveled through other states as a Fl-CWP holder the law where you stand is the law , so if the state reciprocates or not to your permit and you carry out side the truck you're following the law , if you're driving and are stopped by DOT my law advice is to have it secured as they have stated I mean is it worth not securing it while driving to avoid hassle? Once I'm O/O I will carry as the law permits me too but when driving cdl it will be secured and to the book according to DOT
