I agree, with my General Lee, until I can get some window tint, I use a piece of black electrician's tape over them. It's just too bright for me at night. It would be nice to be able to modify the Dim switch so the OFF is not just dimming, but shutting the lights off..

I remember reading somewhere that some CB techs can put a resistor on the circuit that runs the power to the lights and dim them down quiet a bit more than the DIM switch it self. Or im pretty sure you can find someone that can have them off instead of dimming.

I use a Galaxy DX979. I put a tiny bit of tape on the RX indicator, because it is too bright. I'm going to gently tint the meter and channel indicator.

The words for the knobs are green. The meter and channel are blue LED. The only catch is that the blue out does the green. By the time you can see the green at night, the blue is overkill. Hence the tint.

Whenever I finally get around to doing it, I'll post a pic.

Also, I've had the radio for a year now. Had it aligned and it hears well. I can actually hear what's happening besides static. My outgoing is clear, too.

Great for night driving, though I don't really stare at my radio.
