Least favorite places to deliver?

I hot shot in the Houston area. I don't go to TOO many new places.
The main place I pick up can be pretty bad.
But Panalpina on Kenswick right off of 1960B is the one place I'd strike from the list if I could.
Chemical plants get honorable mention. Watch a video, sometimes put on extra clothing to deliver there.

Also Manchester Terminal Port of Houston. Rarely get out of there in less than 1.5 hours....

 

ding ding, winner winner chicken dinner. And true on the food warehouses. I used to deliver to fresh direct, and they want multiorder skids separated, repalletized and shrink wrapped..if not done to their liking it must be redone..Thats why I went to linehaul. Screw that nonsense. Have your shipper send the order correct the first time.. And if I could like your post about the "u" places a million times I would...

 

How about the idiot grocery wharehouses that want their crap on small pallets. "you still use small pallets? Hillarious! You end up putting 5 boxes on a small pallet. by the time your done you sorted, segregated THEIR Crap and used 20 pallets. Glad we just about dont frequent them any more.

 

That is why you pay lumpers. Unloading isn't a big problem, but sorting out all their crap, is just not worth the time. . .

 

Actually it was much easier for one of our drivers to get in a shouting match with the reciever thus getting us banned from their warehouse, like LTLers need food whse deliveries

 

As a PAM driver I got my share of WMDC and Kroger DC deliveries.
But longest wait EVER was at a couple different water places!!!
Where when they do load you they load you heavy!

there was one stop where Id go to, they had no problem doing the sort, one guy always asked for help though, guess just lazy, and the other guy did it himself, he said it was to keep him busy for a while so they dont bother him

 

Any grocery warehouse I've ever been to, but particularly Bazzuto's in Cheshire Ct. I only had to pick up trailers already loaded with pallets but I could not believe the way the people behind the glass talked to the drivers waiting for paperwork or a door, by far the worst that I've witnessed.

Also when I did food delivery, we had, it seemed, every rehab center and child daycare center in the Philly area. The rehabs were difficult because many are in areas you don't belong in a truck and in shady neighborhoods. Others run by the state, the workers thought they could speak to us like they spoke to the inmates, uh no, not this driver. The daycares, the girls were cute, usually, but they let the kids run around your feet, won't hold a door for you, and all act like they're on xanax. Many of them instituted security measures to get in and out of the building and God forbid the director was out and the assistant didn't recognize you, was easier getting onto Ft. Meade.

And then delivering to bars and restaurants particularly here in Philly. Old buildings with narrow side streets and older steps. No room to put anything, then they try to tell me my job is to stock THEIR crap, um no, not this driver. I bring it in and you put away.

Glad, I went back OTR and now doing entertainment hauling, much more satisfying to me, and far less damaging to my back and knees.
