Break if you need to break. Personally, once I start to drive I hate to stop until I've put in at least 10 hours, but that's just me. (I did 620 miles straight through my first day on my trainer's truck.) We each need to do what it takes to get us through each day. At the end of training you'll have a chance to rate your trainer. If he winds up being unreasonable about this be sure to let it be known.

My trainer encouraged me to stop when I needed it. When I teamed, I stopped every 2-3 hours. I wanted to go longer, but I just drank too much water :biggrin_25511: The only time my co-driver minded was when I stopped within the first 3 hours of her going to bed, I came off the highway a little fast, or I slammed the door getting out. So I tried to be mindful when I stopped, and stopped when I needed it.

You're the boss when you're driving, your needs dictate when you need or want to stop. As long as you get the freight there on time, then you can stop every hour if you need to.

And therein lies the rub: getting those favors paid back. I only had one person who actually paid back all his favors, and he did it because he knew the moment he hosed us, we would never do another favor for him again. So he always took care of us, and now he's my boss, so it worked out.

I can only give info re: Central... I'm still here, and not planning on going anywhere else for at lease another year... That says something I think.

If you already have your CDL, you would probably just need to do a 'refresher' course. Basically do all the training, just not the DMV test. Then out with a trainer.

He lives in UT so he drops the student off on Monday, goes home for Tue-Thurs, then picks a new student up on Friday.

Well, no presets were available from Dallas to AR this weekend. So now I'm countin on the weekend planners to get me home. Sitting for 18 hrs before you go on vacation hurts!! But it is what it is. 24 more hrs and I'll be deadheading home. I already spent a small fortune on a cabin in the woods. Wish this could have happened about 180 miles closer then I'd already be drivin to the house! Got my breakfast swallered, goin to ck the QC. Sometimes they surprise me when I least expect it... Prolly see y'all next week t the soonest! *doin the vacation dance...

ENJOY!! Sometimes it's worth DH'ing ... Depends on if its worth the $$ for fuel or not. When Klingon's Mom passed, if we had been company we would have had to wait for 2 days for a load out of SLC heading west... Instead we BT all the way from SLC to Sacramento, CA... It was worth it to us, and since we were lease (one of the reasons we went lease) we could decide to spend that $$ to get there... The company wouldn't have... I don't blame them either.

    Arkansas Frost Thanks this.
