FYI it was working after the format and reload. Then i tried the map update again and it froze the computer and it rebooted mid update. Now the GPS hangs at the splash screen and not recognized my the computer.

    New issue-

When the 520 looses contact with my hotshot for whatever reason, it will not reconnect without having to reboot the device. It wants the WAP pass code but won't accept it until rebooted.

If you still have the files/folders on your c:\ then just delete what is on the 720 and reload again to the 720.

Until the TND does a full boot, it will not build the naviinfo file correctly which the Dock needs to read.

Map updates are suggested on a High Speed Network. It is about a 3.5 gb download.

Let me know if you are still having issues.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Have you tried to disable and then re-enable the Wi-Fi first before the reboot?

    Thanks,

Friendly hint: Don't Completely trust the routing. My 520 gave me the fastest route from La Grande, OR to Lewiston, ID. OR 82 - OR 3 - WA 129.... which I now know to be Rattlesnake Pass..... Lot's of fun in condo cab with a 53 foot trailer. Might consider putting a warning on that type of road in the GPS for the idiots (like me).

Before folks start screaming, I did glance at the map in the atlas 1st, but forgot to look up restrictions in the front of the book. 60 ft length restriction on singles or 75' on doubles... duh.

First let me clarify- the wifi was stale and was on overnight with no activity. Regarding your question, yes I did cycle the wifi enable and reentered my wap pass code twice before rebooting. It has done this many times in the past with and without a stale wifi state. Not sure if the wifi hotspot on this phone burped and that caused the problem or what but the cure seems to be rebooting.
