Congrats! I knew about my second week on my trainers truck that I eventually wanted to lease. I would spend hours thinking about numbers, crunching them, asking my trainer questions. You should've seen my list of crap to ask about when I finally talked to owner op when I upgraded lol. They were like, woah woah, pump the brakes you still got a ways to go, haha.

Then PSU's truck became available. Lease terms #### near matched my schooling contract (which I still have to fulfill). Like you, the right deal came along and I decided to take the plunge. I don't want to say "best of luck" to you, like we are doomed for failure or something, so I'll just say "stay safe out there driver!"

Yes, we get paid to do our own washouts. I'm not sure what qualifies as one though. Sweeping out a trailer? Is that worth a washout payment? Not saying you did that, just generally curious. To get paid you need to turn in a PROPERLY filled out driver washout receipt. Talk to your payroll manager to find out exactly what she needs. My company payroll manager told me that many of us don't get paid because we don't fill out the receipt PROPERLY. Just a heads up.

Congrats! Have you already talked to your trainer on the phone? Most guys in my class heard from their trainers right away. You should be just fine out there!

I don't know about anything dedicated that's OTR, but I do know they have been advertising this local gig in the Pasco, WA area for like six weeks now it seems. Seems like plenty of guys dropped OTR and headed up there. They were paying for two weeks hotel accomodations until you find a place to live. Sounds like it could be a permanent gig.

There is 1 dedicated solo run that I know of, but new drivers don't generally get on it. And, once you're on it, you bust your butt to make sure you deliver on time, or you will get booted from the run. It's the Fred Meyer dedicated, and it hauls out of Chehalis, WA and Clackamas, OR.

There's local work in Pasco now, Central has about 40 guys hauling day cabs and belly dump trucks for McCain. It's potatoes. From what I hear, there's also positions hauling the finished product from the plants to the cold storages. Don't know if there's anyone local loading trailers to drop in our new Pasco yard.

You work 6 days a week, pay is I think $120-$175 a day, and they'll put you in a hotel room for 2 weeks for you to relocate. There's also a $1500 bonus, paid out $150 a week as long as you stay there. I don't know how long you have to be driving to qualify, or if you can just hire on specifically for that if you have experience. I also don't know if the rate is per hour, or per load. I've asked around, but everyone I ask doesn't seem to know.

Hopefully someone can shine some light on this for me. If not I'll just get in touch with safety when the office opens.

Can you go to line 5, off duty driving during a 34 hour reset? At first I figured no, but then wondered if your off duty it shouldn't ruin your 34.

you can line 5 during a reset, BUT make sure you qualify so safety doesn't edit it to line 3 and take your reset away. If you are under load or have Mac 11'd a pset you cannot line 5, and when they edit it might be a week later, giving you 4 retroactive violations.

Yes you can... However you are limited on the time (by company policy - not DOT), but you can't be 'under load' or have a trailer hooked even if its MT. We go line 5 after we drop in Rocklin to home, however, as SOON as we start heading towards Rocklin again to pick up our next load (after our time at home) we have to do than on duty drive. We had a big 'sit down' meeting with the head of safety, our safety guy and our DM. It was basically put, you follow our 'company policy' regarding this, our leave... So even though we don't totally agree with it, and we are 'contractors' not 'employees', we go along with it.

Legally you can not bt towards a pickup on line 5, so that rule is legit. I can argue for the time restriction only because the wording for the line 5 provision specifically states "a reasonable distance," so central has defined what is reasonable. Whether you have a trl or a pset does not affect your ability to line 5 legally. In fact, you can be under a load and line 5 as long as you unhook first. The only requisite is that you are UNLADEN. Unfortunately central owns us all, So we have to do it their way or get 39 lashes.

my a-hole safety guy said I line 5ed for 5 min while under dispatch during a 34. Only problem is this line 5 happened at 0230, my fat tail was asleep! He checked the GPS and saw that the truck never moved and still said it was unauthorized line 5 and changed it to line 3 totally screwing up my restart. This is something that I believe should be illegal, after a log is signed or approved if it gets edited or changed its tampering with a fed document. We will get nailed by the dot for doing this but according to safety they can change whatever they see fit.. This is BS!!

Yeah I said something about it to a-hole and he was quick to point out that the little green book does allow this and that they "needed" to do it to protect the company in the event of a FMCSA audit. Either way I think it's a crock to let them cover their tail at the drivers expense. So what if they get an audit , we get audited every time we get a dot inspection. If the officers are to stupid or ignorant to catch the little things then that's their problem. It's all a bunch of BS , especially as far as the contractors go. Their 2 hr line 5 thing is horse crap. If I have the money and care to do so then I should be able to drive this tractor to hell and back on line 5. Frankly I don't know why I gripe, there's ways to "fix" their little big brother machine to where he lies if need be. Its unfortunate but the IT folks at central are about as good at their jobs as most of the dm's. LOL!!
