I am a relatively new driver out of CA. I have a co-driver and we are looking at leaving our current company for one that runs more miles and offers better pay. I would appreciate any comments (pros and cons) you are willing to share about US Xpress.

    Thank you!

USX is very "pro" team. If you take the time to learn how the system works and get to know your fleet manager, you should do fine.

Contact Scarlett in recruiting (in Chattanooga, TN). She'll give you the straight scoop.

    Hello There. :biggrin_25511:

I haven't been on too much, I know. I've been busy running.

Miles on last Friday's settlement sheet were 2,639. This week: 2,300. I've been resisting taking a 34 hour reset and have tried to run rolling over any remaining hours to the next day. It works if your getting back 8 or 9 each day. But if you get a day where you only get back 1 or 2 hours, that'll slow you down, and that's what happened this past week. Ended up having to do a couple of short hops which were basically trailer moves so the miles were off.

This week is shaping up better. Had a 442 mile run from McCalla, AL to Houma, LA, and I'm now on a 1,167 mile run that picked up in Decatur, MS and delivers in Flint, MI, another of those auto loads I love so much. I'm real early on this one, so I'm going to drop this load tomorrow morning at our drop yard in Detroit. I have a pre-assignment waiting that will pick up in Carelton, MI tomorrow morning, and delivers in Enfield, NC on 7/2. Paid miles: 716. I'm hoping to get that one in early so I can drop it at a yard and move on to something else.

    So that's the latest.

Have to go cook dinner. Going watch "Thor" tonight.

    Yes!

    Thanks for reading.

not sure any regional drivers are on here. You need to ask a recruiter I suspect.

I'm about to graduate from CDL school, and I need to make a decision this weekend. One of the contenders is US Xpress, but I have a few questions:

    1. Is it reasonable to expect at least 2000 miles per week once I go solo? I understand market fluctuations, but since the recruiter is quoting the 2500 mile average, I'm wondering if that's going to start shrinking a few months after I solo.

    2. Do the trucks have APUs?

    3. Are inverters allowed? If so, what is the size limitations?

    Thanks.
