That's cold comfort when your're flat broke. I was there a couple of times. It all seems so academic until reality bites.

Find a better paying co. with 1 year of exp 40 cpm should be bare acceptable minimum. And then save, And then look to buy a truck . Otherwise 10 $ could be seen as a viable option later on compared to debt.

I have 4 years experience actually. Well 3 driving had my CDL for 4. I don't get paid mileage I get 24% of the load. It's just in this company I have to be out 2 weeks to make any decent money. If I do the home on weekends I never gross more then 800 maybe 900 I'd they really run me which they rarely do.

Private owner is always best since he will have all records of work performed for your peace of mind

Now how could you possibly know that? You think every guy keeps every record of what he does to his truck? You don't think if he got in a late night fender bender after running illegal he just took it to a shop and had everything fixed and forgot about it? Come on man...

You do realize that sfi lease reps make it a point o tell you SNI drivers do best when they stay out 3 weeks at a time? If not then check your plan with your lease rep. 900 to be home every weekend is good. My dude Chris is on choice right now and he goes home once a month has cascadias with good mpg and runs a lot of northeast he takes home about 1300 weekly

900 a week sucks. I'm out for 6 days at a time normally. I leave Sunday and get home Saturday. Plus with everything I have coming outta my check I'm lucky to pocket 500.

and that 900 gross was a highball estimate. Normally my gross is around 800. Usually less.

At the posted returns for effort/ cash invested on this thread I'd have to say that getting a job with an LTL carrier is the best option.
In my experience, the Teamster environment really sucks ( been there, Local 31), the probable night shift sucks as well, but the pay is way better than what you guys are posting, the risk is minimal and the benefits are superior which include a pension if Jimmy Hoffa Jr. doesn't mismanage it.

    I can't believe I've actually suggested a union job.

I've actually thought about going with Conway truckload for a year then transfer to a local Lyle position. Ltl guys are making some serious money. Upwards of 70-85k a year in someplaces. Never see that #### trucking longhaul.
