Transport America is a Good Company to start with!!

You can have a 1500 watt inverter, you buy it from them and they install it, I think they will payroll deduct it.

I already had mine before they had you buy theirs, but when mine goes out I would have to buy the one they have.

 

Has anyone else gotten the run around when trying to set up orientation? I was supposed to go for the July 1st orientation, but instead of calling or emailing me instructions to get my DOT medical done last week like the recruiter said they would, so they could get the logistics done this week, they waited until yesterday to call and basically make threats and claim they've been trying to get a hold of me all week, which, while I've been out of town (and I sent an email last friday letting them know I was leaving town and would be back Tuesday at the earliest), I have a smart phone so I know they didn't email me and my phone records show the last phone call from them to me being June 14th. I tried calling and emailing them last week and got no reply.

So I just called to try and settle things down, figure out what's going on, and reschedule orientation after getting a message late yesterday stating that if they didn't hear from me by the end of today, my application would be thrown out and I'd have to start the process over again if I'm still interested. I was told the next available orientation would be July 15th. I said ok, then asked about getting the DOT medical setup and was then told to hang on, I heard a lot of typing, then they came back and said they would need to call me back later today so they could figure out what's going on and hung up. I'm starting to think this company isn't worth the hassle.

 

i never heard them doing that.

 

I have absolutely no experience with this company, so I have neither anything good nor bad to say about them.

But if I were treated in that manner before I even got there, it would make me very concerned about how I'd be treated once inside one of their trucks.

I would go ahead and put applications in elsewhere. But that's just me.

My career as a truck driver has come to an end, the railroad called me off furlough status, it was fun and i learned alot seeing things through a new perspective, but all good things must come to an end,

 

I'm done trying to get hired on with TA. They've yanked me around, lied to me, and wasted my time. I can only assume this kinda treatment would continue once I were an employee and I don't put up with this kinda crap very well.

 

Nicole Rabe was my recruiter. When I called her on the 10th of June she said she could get me in for this weeks orientation. She said I could either get my DOT physical done before going or it would be done during orientation. I chose to try and get it done before since there was plenty of time and it would take the stress out of orientation. She called me on the 14th of June and said that everything was taken care of and she would call me sometime the next week (June 17-21) with info for the DOT physical and then she'd call me with the info for getting me to orientation sometime during the week of the 24th to 28th (I got an email thanking me for choosing TA that included a video message from CEO Scott Arves, a list of things I should bring with me to orientation, a break down of what my pay, running area, and hometime would be, and that I'd be staying at the MicroTel Inn and Suites by Wyndham at 850 Odum Rd, Gardendale, AL during orientation), but by Wednesday (19th) I hadn't heard from her and I knew I was leaving town that weekend and wouldn't be back until the 25th at the earliest, so I called her and got her voicemail. I left a message asking her to please call or email me the info so I could get it done. Still nothing on the 20th, so I sent her an email to let her know of my plans for the weekend and when I'd return. I bought a smart phone when I started driving, so I am obviously able to stay connected with the outside world while I'm on the road. From the 14th until the 25th I did not receive a phone call or email from her. On the 26th, she called very late in the day, around 5:30pm (central time) and stated (lied) that she had called me multiple times the past couple days (I had my phone with me and my phone records show the last call from her was on the 14th of June) and since I didn't answer (because she didn't call), she had to pull me from the orientation class for July 1st thru 3rd and that if I were still interested in working for TA I'd need to call her back before the end of the day on the 27th. I called her around 8:15am (7:15am central) and told her I'm still interested, that I was sorry she'd had so much trouble getting a hold of me (I figured it would go over better than 'you lying f#cking b#tch'), but that I'm ready to go and if it would help speed things up, I have my long form from my last DOT physical which still had 11 months left on it that I could fax or email to her. She said she could get me in for the 16th of July orientation and would call me back later that day once "the list" was complete. 8 hrs later I hadn't heard from her so I called her back. She said she was waiting for "the list" and would call me back on the 28th. By the end of the day on the 28th I hadn't heard anything so I sent her an email. I called her yesterday morning and got her voicemail. Later in the day I sent her an email. I haven't heard anything from her since the 27th of June and before that the 14th of June. I went from being on "the list", ready to go, just needing a DOT physical and transportation setup (or just the transportation setup if we were going to skip getting the DOT done before I go) for orientation for this week (which I was told they normally hold orientation Tue-Thur but with this week having a holiday on Thur, they were holding it Mon-Wed), to off "the list", no details being given for anything, no replies to email or phone calls, and if I do get her on the phone, she dodge's my questions, say's she'll call me back and hangs up. If there's more to it, somebody please enlighten me. That's all I know.

 

Sometimes we get these ideas we think were doing the right thing, then we realize we put our selves in a worse spot than when we started, mine was workin for transpor america

 

If they don't have enough ppl for orientation at a set date, they will remove you from that orientation list and set up a new one. With the 4th coming out it will be hard to get started with them. You need to remember NEVER believe what a recruiter tells you. They get paid for calling ppl and getting ppl to orientation. I had to waited a few weeks because of Thanksgiving when i started. But if you can stick with it, its wroth the wait.
