Panther Expedited

    We have been setup with Panther for 6 months and have been awarded several loads and they invariably are cancelled. I just booked a load tonight to recover freight and started the truck in that direction. We got a call 20 minutes later stating that the load was pulled from us and booked with one of their in-house trucks. They stated that they have two teams working on things - one for outside trucks and one for leased trucks. Whenever the team handling leased trucks finds one of theirs available, they have to give the load to the leased truck. So I asked an agent, for how long do I have to be assigned to a load before they won't pull us off of it. For example, if we commit to a three hour deadhead, could they pull us off right until the pickup? He said "yes".

    Does anyone care to share if they have much/any success with hauling loads brokered by Panther? I am thinking it isn't worth my time looking there. Any strategies suggested?

    Panther called me about lease purchase.....but I'm weary and skeptical, they don't have the volume I experienced working at landstar because landstar has partnership with ch Robinson etc

    I personally worked for Panther as a broker agent and as a sprinter van driver. And yes it does happen unfortunately. It is not suppose to. Panther drivers are suppose to have priority and other companies as a back up unless they know that the back up can make it to pickup on time and the Panther driver can not. I fortunately didn't have to deal with that because I knew what went on behind the scenes. Next time this happens call into driver relations and make sure you was given a first out because you already started moving toward the shipper. And also make sure they pay you a dry run if you started moving.

    Depends on the size of the company you are. That would never happen with our expedite division. Panther sends us a good amount of business.

    7 trucks but we are just getting started with them so I am assuming they think they have little to lose in jerking us around.
