If you like getting 400 dollar checks every week you'll love regional. I dont know much about their other regional runs but I'm on Texas regional and I'm not making squat. The check I got yesterday? Barely over 1600 miles. After taxes and not getting reimbursed for expenses I should have been reimbursed for, it was 303 dollars and change. I'm either gonna get some SERIOUS increases in miles in the next few weeks, or I'm done. There's no excuse for a company this large, with as much freight as they have, to only give me 1600 miles in a week when I've been on time for every load and haven't complained to anyone about anything. No excuse for this at all. NONE

I am laughing at the responses the DM has been giving in this thread. I was OTR for Celadon and was lucky to get over 2500 miles on any given week. My miles were closer to 1500-1800. I lost count the number of times I did not get reimbursed for scales and I spent over a week in a motel in Laredo and never got breakdown pay for my downtime. Home time? If you want the TRUTH, I was out AT LEAST 4 weeks before I got routed home for 2-3 days. My normal time out was 6 weeks before I got routed home. I lost count the number of times I was told Celadon didn't have any runs running into the Northeast or Upstate New York regions when I was trying to get home. Seriously???? What a crock. Check my posts about this company and you'll see another side that isn't the rosy red pic Atlas has been painting here.
I'm not saying everything about Celadon was bad, but I fully believe in being honest when asked about certain things and all I've seen from Atlas in this thread are evasive, non-committing answers that you can't use against him when you find out what the truth really is.
Regardless, good luck with your new adventure. I hope it works out well for you.

Maybe you should look to improve your reading comprehension skills. What "rosy red pic" are you talking about? I was honest in every single post. I said the following...

    1. Minimum is two weeks out, but you need to stay out longer to make any money.
    2. Lease purchase isn't always a good option.
    3. Average length of haul is 400 miles (why in the world would I make up a number THIS BAD??)
    4. 2500 miles is the goal (...does it happen all the time? No. Your experience was significantly worse than average)
    5. They probably won't hire you with no OTR experience.
    6. EDO policy is one day off for 7 days out.
    7. It would be difficult, but possible, to take time off in California (did you see this one?)
    8. The starting pay is a low 33 cpm if you don't have experience.

I also said I don't know what the actual average weekly miles are... because I don't. I didn't comment on the northeast freight lanes... because I don't know them very well. I don't know what caused your individual experience, but if you can point out a single thing from this thread that is not factually correct, then go for it. You have an emotional axe to grind with Celadon, so I'm not expecting much real intellect coming from you. I didn't say everything was perfect... on the contrary, I went well out of my way to explain that things are not perfect. Any reasonably intelligent person can see that, I think...

I don't know anything about Texas regional, and nothing in any of my posts is related to the Texas regional fleet... not sure why you're posting in this thread, since none of the discussion applies. Literally everything is different - the pay, the miles, the load planning, the time off... everything.

My simple question to you is this? Why, if you aren't a driver for Celadon and actually collecting a driver's paycheck and living a driver's life with Celadon, would you even begin to try to advise DRIVERS what to expect from Celadon? That makes as much sense as a driver trying to answer questions about being a DM if they've never done ot before. An emotional axe to grind? Hardly. But, when asked, I will relate my personal, firsthand experience to those who inquire.
You sit here and condemn drivers for supposedly asking something that isn't relative to this thread and ridicule others who don't speak highly of this carrier or agree with your responses. Might I suggest that instead of trolling here and trying to answer questions posed by drivers, for drivers, that you do either one of two things. First, you can get your CDL, get out of you cushy chair in your climate controlled office and become a driver for Celadon. Then you have the right and knowledge to answer the questions posed here. OR...you can stop surfing this forum and start working for the drivers assigned to you and get them the miles they deserve.

Oh...the starting pay is .31cpm and Celdaon automatically takes .02 cpm for new drivers, so you are only making .29cpm. That's a fact and I can scan copies of my pay stub to prove it. Secondly, EDO may say you get 1 day off for every week on the road, but try to take more than 3 days off for home time and see what happens. My trainer's wife was in hospital and Celadon actually sent a team out to his house in Tennessee on the 4th day he was home to get his truck, and terminate him. This was done even after he had arranged to extend his home time and use his vacation time to be with his wife. I was out for over 8 weeks straight and was only authorized 3 days for hometime.
The one thing you did say that really is true is if you want to make any serious money with Celadon, you do have to stay out MUCH longer than two weeks. Plan on staying out 6 weeks on the average if you want to make any decent money.
It's also EDO policy to pay drivers $50 a day breakdown pay. I spent over a week in a hotel in Laredo waiting for my truck to be fixed. When I got my check I never got paid one dime for breakdown pay. The response I got from payroll was that I had already received breakdown pay for being broke down in Odessa, Texas 3 months before. So apparently there's a limit as to how much a driver can collect in breakdown pay, but payroll couldn't tell me what the limits were.
As for not expecting any real intellect coming from me, do yourself a favor and keep your sarcastic remarks to yourself. Everything I've posted here is fact. But don't come in here and slam the drivers for posting their firsthand experiences with this company.
The bottom line is, every big carrier is the same. All the driver will ever be is a truck number, nothing more. Celadon is no different than any of the other carriers. For anyone to think otherwise is foolish and for anyone to try and convince drivers otherwise is just wrong.
