I'm trying to get some information on TMC. I know they do percentage or mileage pay. Any information or experience would be appreciated. Would this be a good company to work for?

Also, consider Melton Truck Lines and System Transport. Both of these companies the drivers make over $50K per year with excellent benefits.

Is there any company in my region? (Southeast) The others want me out about 14 days at a time because of my location. Thanks.

This seems as good a thread as any to ask about flatbedding... Been pulling reefer for over a year now and I'm kind of getting sick of appt, appt, appt, appt.... And the crap pay. I know fb'ing is work, but what is the schedule like? I talked to a few guys who said their schedule is pretty lax and they couldn't go back to van even though the work is harder. Seems like a good way to stay in shape too

Yeah I actually look forward to the physical part of it. It'll keep me active at least a little. TMC has gorgeous trucks but won't hire in my area unless you're willing to be out 14 days.

I was TMC(too much chrome) for almost five years. Best equipment. Bet your ###, you keep it clean inside and out, spotless. Yes, its hard work and you fight the weather-hot, cold, snow, rain.(frost on your tarp over fifteen foot high is fun). Get you home most weekends.. If you are ex military you will fit in-its run like a military op. Rules, they have them, you dont break them. Trucks last I hear were at 62. Best support for breakdowns.. You can make some decent money, but you have got to pretty much stay out every other weekend to do it. Keep some money put away..cab/bus/rental to be able to get home. If you get fired, they kick your ### out of the truck and to the curb(where ever you are). Terminal in DesMoines is pretty cool and its next to a motel(Harolds) you can check into(free) for your break when running thru. DONT walk on the grass. It was ok working for them but stressfull. Between the safety department, log department, and dispatch, each one of them on your ### and each one telling you different things of what, how, where and why on every little thing usually keeps a driver pissed off most of the time. If you are young and dumb...go for it. haha.. Adios

Yeah it does. My dad drove all of his life. I used to ride with him. I always wanted to but decided to go the law enforcement route. Now that I'm doing it I love it. I am just trying to get a good career started for my family which recently doubled in size when my twin boys were born on 9-25 of last year. The local company is good for starting out and I don't ever sleep away from home for more than 1 night. I know it takes being gone to make it but I can be gone all week which is why I was interested in TMC. I am looking at another company that pulls vans (Big G Express) out of Tennessee. They get you home most weekends and start you at a decent 32 cents with half cent raises ever 6 months maxing out at 44. I am just looking to get something good for my family. My current company pays 500 a week salary plus 10 cents for anything over 1300 miles. But benefits are 160 per week for my family! I believe Big G is around 90 to 100. I don't know about TMC but they're out of the question now anyway because they aren't hiring in my area.
