I have driven for Crete and Werner. If those are your choices...Scheafer/Crete!
Just my 2 cents. I personally would not go back to Crete, but it seems to be a good fit for allot of drivers.
Question: Shaffer/Crete or Werner?

Mark, I had some issues with a couple of the dispatchers, I have heard they went from a pool of dispatchers to each driver has a single dispatcher, not sure how true that is. Things may be better now. But if all I had was a choice of Werner or Crete, Crete without a doubt!

Thanks all. Might check out Central Refridgerated too. Have pre hire from them as well.

Make it eaiser. I have pre hires from the following: maverick, tmc, swift, werner, shaffer, boyd brothers, central refridgerated, navajo, us express, and stevens.

Maverick and Boyd are both very good companies. Can't speak for the rest you listed.

BuckeyeCowboy63, Are you graduating from a school? If so, is it a "approved" by CRETE school? If not, they won't take you unless, 1.Your from a school they approve of or 2. You've had prior OTR experience. Just spoke with them yesterday. -
Van is easy because its no touch freight... But lots of waiting around some weeks. Show up at the shipper before or at your appt time and guess what, it's not ready (at least thats the story for me right now).
From what ive read TMC is great if you want to start out flat bedding, they actually pay for your orientation (don't quote me on this) and depending on where you live you might not have to stay out for a month+ at a time. Dont know about maverick but they have a good looking fleet and seem like a good company.
Personally after hauling reefers for a minute now it's nice when youre rolling smoothly but it's just appointment, appointment, appointment... Then you gotta worry about the #### thing breaking down which only happened to me once... Then you gotta consider that you're taking the extra responsibilities of hauling reefers while some guy in a dry van is getting the same cpm if not more.. But if i could do it over again I'd go flatbed.
Anyways whoever you start with try to stick with them for at least a year before moving on unless youre living a horror story or the company completely sucks for you. Good luck
