No need for saber rattling, tow614. Nobody's calling you anything. If you're saying you're driving down the road reading and responding to threads off your phone, though, you've got a bigger screw loose than I thought and nobody's safe around you. I appreciate that you stopped hovering over my thread. I also offered that we've said enough here and could just leave it for Gordon rookies (where ever they are) to chime in on how they're doing.

So if you folks stop referencing me, especially by name, joseph's thread can move on...

From 1st rest area w/b inside W. Virginia. Says no overnight parking and I plan to shutdown for the night. 363 miles, 7.5 hrs driving on the log, 1.25 on duty. Destination: Indy in the ahem... (morning)

Yuppo, GreyHound. Today, at least. Got to shipper/receiver last night 509 miles around 7:30 pm. Will have 3-1/2 hours breakdown pay @ $18/hr due to a bad valve stem, pressure dropped, tire bounced and no good. Got new retread in Bell Vernon, slightly out of my way as I had to go back to I-79S to avoid tunnels (placarded load).

Got a great night's sleep. Customer's yard dog gave me a heads up at 6:45 am this morning that he'd come by when they had a door open. He did at 7 am. Drove the short distance over, put it to the dock. The outbound was not ready and they said might not be ready all day--that's $18/hr for however long it takes. Drove over to Wawa Convenience Market (there is such a thing) and had a Wawa hoagie. Roast beef. You order at a bunch of terminals with all sorts of toppings, etc. Way, way better than Subway. At 10:30 am customer called & said load was ready. If your time isn't free, they tend to respect it more. Hellooooooo, Gordon!! So I'll get 3 hours @ $18 for that.

Helped another of our driver's out until I departed @ 11:30 am. Fueled, showered, shaved and refreshed at TA Breezewood, PA. Left there 5:30 pm and shut down here @ 8:30 pm. I'll get a good night's sleep and roll into Indy tomorrow. Low stress. The pay for this Indy-Philly-Indy? We are well-compensated. Compared to, say, Gordon. Had to go the 'long way' to Philly because of placarded load. Our percentage pay works out to 40-49 cents/mile. I'll also get paid for my delivery time in Indy tomorrow @ $18. Hopefully no more breakdown pay this trip. But, if so, it's $18/hr all hours. All of them. I'm a part-timer. Just took several weeks off. This is it for this week.

As our new young driver Jamal said, "I haven't had a stressful week yet. They had me at about $1040 a week at first. I asked them to bump it up. They did. And I'm making right what I want now." On the other hand, if he wanted to work 100 hours a week for Gordon, he could make $400-$600 a week, now couldn't he??? Or less!!

Thank you joseph for this story. There are whiners in every industry crying "poor me" or blaming everyone except the person in the mirror or looking for an excuse to slack or coast. All I say to them is go get a government job then, #####!

Thanks for showing how it is done in the real world by someone who wants it.

Sorry, Joseph. Really wasn't trying to hijack your thread. We differ on Gordon, but as I've said seems like a million times, I liked driving for Gordon, just not the pay. Good equipment, terriffic driver support and a safe place for CDL, never, never asked to run illegal. My 10 are just about up, gotta scoot. I would not hesitate to recommend Gordon, just not for pay...
