Hard copy CDL at completion of School?

    I'm hearing so many conflicting stories on here, I don't know who to believe. If I decide to go ahead and start school/training at Cedar Rapids, will I get my CDL on completion, or do they somehow "hold" it until after 8 months is up?

    How you spose to drive without it?Think is what CRST would do is if you quit before the contract is up then you pay so much back towards your schooling and if you don't they'll make your credit bad and I think they'llput you as unhireable on your DAC report.Companies I don't think hire anybody while under a contract.

    Anyone actually KNOW for FACT the answer to my question, and can answer it a bit clearer? Maybe someone who has actually BEEN to CRST school/training?

    Perhaps I was unclear. I'm sorry.

    I'm not planning on quitting before my 8 months is up. Let me explain.

    I currently hold an Illinois DL, but live in Florida. The recruiter has told me that I need to transfer my Illinois DL to Florida (because for some reason they cannot work with anyone who currently hold an Illinois DL), then go to Cedar Rapids and transfer my Florida DL to Iowa, then complete school/training, then go back to Florida and transfer my Iowa DL (which I suppose would be a CDL) back to a Florida CDL. The whole thing is very confusing, and I am just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

    Ok fine sorry wasn't the answer you was looking for.I think to get a clear direct answer is call CRST and ask them.They have other dept you can talk to besides recruiting.

    I think it is what they call a "provisional License". You can be retested at anytime with in a certain time frame by DMV. You would have to research a little further to get all the details on how it works. It is something like this, the company makes a deal with DMV accepting liability for you and you license. There is a lot more to it but, that is jest of how it works.

    Thank you. That's what I thought. Unfortunately there's a lot of people on this site who just spread lies and dis-information around simply because they had some sort of bad experience with a trucking company. It causes a lot of confusion for wannabees like me who are trying to do our due diligence and research before jumping in. None of us wants to end up as another clueless, whining crybaby on this forum. LOL!!! :)

    It is against the law for a company to post "unhirable" on any report. They may report your random drug testing history, accident history that required a tow or injury, your start date, your end date.
