I believe a 450w will run a small fridge but you'll need an apu when the truck isnt running. The best way to know is try it. Thats what I did with my equipment before I put it in my truck.

So, as a broke soon to be new driver, I'll be ok bringing my mini fridge from college? I can't say I love the thought of breaking it, but I don't have any use for it at the house, so I won't cry over it if it gives me some time to put off buying a proper one.

A truck fridge/freezer costs $400 + dollars. The mini fridge works just fine. Ours has been working for six months.

Get the warranty just in case.

There are thermo-electric mini fridges. you will have to shop around. The cheaper ones will probably draw too much power. The more efficient they are, the more they cost. I think I paid around $125 for one at BrandsMart.

That is one thing I liked about TransAm when I worked there. They had a built in Fridge in every truck. Even had a small Freezer part that worked well on my truck.

You can't get 450 watts through the 12v plug. Read the manual on the inverter. If you use the "cigarette lighter" outlet, the highest you can go is 150 watts. Anything higher needs to go directly to the battery. Which you can't do in a company truck if it's against the rules. Buy a 12v fridge and/or freezer and be done with it.

Get a small $1200 Engel fridge and you're all set! Actually I still believe even though all truck stops carry those cheap 12V coolers, appeals more to non-truckers who want to keep their beer cold for a short trip. Every person I know with a 12V cooler, no matter what the brand, has had their cooler die. I believe it is because it is not for 24/365 usage. The fact that it is at a truckstop confuses drivers in that it should work nonstop. I don't know why they won't make an affordable portable small fridge. In all this time I still haven't bought one that I have kept. I hate the fan noise so the next one I buy I will place under my bed so I won't hear it. I only need a fridge for perishables like milk and butter, and to keep a few sodas cool.
