huh...I tried that, while at USA(on my first hometime) and they almost had the truck towed from the dealership, AFTER the fact, that they even called out the truck is pretty much Out Of Service! USA called and said I had to go pick the truck up and one of their *coughs* "qualified mechanics" would fix it!

Well I picked up a load in Miami, FL yesterday and it is going to Katy, Tx. I have been bumping against my 70 for the last 3 days and gave an ETA for this @1600 on 9/1. I can get it there, but will not have time to do a live unload, so I have to ask if I can deliver it on Monday @ 0800 which will give me time for the live unload.

With that said, if I can unload this on Monday and get it Transflo'd then I will end up with 2497 miles for my 1st week.

I am sure I would have gotten more, but had two horrible experiences for live loads. One was at Kroger in Houston. It took the lumpers over 8 hours to load my trailer and since I did not know how to do an 8/2 split, it killed my 14.

Then at Avery Dennison in Meridian, MS it took them 5 hours to load me. This was supposed to be a drop and hook. Both of those really set me up to have problems with my 14 and 70.

What I really like so far about USA truck is that they leave me alone. At Swift and Werner the Qualcomm continously went off and I would have to pull over and read it. Here it barely goes off more than once per day. I like that....

you might check with safety before you log a 8/2 split on extending your 14.I don't know if that's something they allow us to do.I precede this statement with I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER before anyone jumps my butt on here lol

I was told they don't like it. To easy to screw up so they don't want us doing itm but things change without nitice here all the time.

My fm told me the other day that detention is no longer 6hrs it is 4 and its $25 an hour not a flat rate. So I made $50 free my first day back from home time. Lol. Well not free.

Officially, the 8/2 split is not allowed at USA. I've recently had this discussion with safety and training because the new training manuals have a whole section on it. When I questioned it I was told it was a mistake and was going to be removed.
Unofficially if you do it properly and don't make a fuss over it the RAIR system allows it. The key words are done properly and don't make a fuss so its looked for.
It is difficult to understand at first, but when correctly explained simple to use. Seldom does it benefit you very much.

You can log off duty while loading/unloading. Believe me, If someone has taken 5 or 8 hours to load or unload me I'm going to stay for 10, adjust my schedule and get rolling. That 14 hr clock wont be any issue. I also dont see how you are pushing against your 70 with 2400 miles. I run 3600 - 3900 every week on recaps.

hopefully he is not logging all his dock time on line 4,that would run your 70 out quick

That's what I figure he's doing. If he's pushing 70 on 2500 miles he has lost nearly 30 hours someplace. He's obviously making beginner mistakes. He said "It took the lumpers over 8 hours to load my trailer and since I did not know how to do an 8/2 split, it killed my 14". He should have just stayed at the shipper another 2 hours and left with a full 11/14. He definitely needs some coaching so he can get a consistent paycheck before he ends up like many of the other drivers we have around here with bad attitudes because they never get any miles when its actually their own fault.
