I'm sure my past posts are long forgotten.. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do when your local isn't properly representing you?

Yes I can.. My Father began reciving warning letters following a back injury.. 3 to be exact. 1 of which he owns, he mis delivered freight, the other 2 were for things he has done no differently in the last 18 years with Reddaway.. Our local Reddaway it's are working under the sane pay and pention cuts as everyone else on the west coast since YRC got in over their heads with the buy out.. Broke down equipment etc.. Our guys don't even have a terminal, no bathroom, no rest area, no direct contact with management. A fellow Union member and Reddaway driver (who had once sued the company for about a million bucks & won) told on my father for posting a joking yet suggestive picture in their empty utility trailer.. This "brother" took pictures and sent them to corporate... YRC Portland had asked my Father to drive out side of his designated permits in order to cut costs and avoiding having a 2nd driver pick up the trailer. My Dad had complied with similar requests before but after receiving these warning letters refused because he was scared to not go by the book... My Dad mentioned the permit issue to a couple other drivers saying only "hey guys do you ever read your permits?" A couple other men began to opt out of these non permitted runs.. It was even said that Portland told at least one driver "be careful who you associate with down there (Salem) there are trouble makers".. 2weeks after my Dad knew his fellow "brother" had taken those pictures, YRC called him in, threw these pictures on the table, my dad owned up to it apologized assured them it would happen never again. Then with his union rep present they discussed the permit issue.. YRC ensured that they would back up my Dad should any issues arise and to CONTINUE TO BREAK THE LAW to get the trailers delivered on time... His Inion rep said "yea do it they said they will cover you"... About a week later this other driver approached my Father relaying what dispatch asked my father to do.. Mind you my Fathet had seniority over this employee an he has no grounds to relay anything. My Dad said " your not my boss, I have a radio, don't talk to me."... This driver followed him to his truck began to speak again and my father turned around and said" don't ##### talk to me, stay away from me, do not ever ##### speak to me again"...... Within a couple days my dad was told "park your truck your suspended".. We're going on 5 weeks now. The union began the greviave process, when it came to the first meeting the deal was: My Dad would go to a shrink to ensue he was stable, suspension would be wiped off the books instead he would take vacation pay, an return to work ASAP. That was 2 weeks ago.. YRC wants access to my dads medical records, multiple appointments with the shrink, a "treatment plan"... My Fathers stance is NO! I did nothing wrong, I tried to comply with your deal screw you I want a full grievance process!... After 2.5 days of waiting for a call back from our local, they are now refusing to fight any further. So, after 20+years as a union due paying member & 18yrs with Reddaway my dad us unemployed @ 54yrs old and absolutely no support. We are so lost.

I'd like to add those 3 warning on average far out weigh any discipline he has revived over the years. This is literally a mutiple award winning driver... Oh yea, also, within about 3weeks on my dads initial suspension, this same employee came into the area where the drivers dump their trucks... On his day off!!.. Took photos of some damaged cases by a 3rd driver (with similar seniority as my father) sent those I to the bosses which resulted in a week long suspension for that driver... Contract talks are right around the corner, these old timers want their pension back. My Dads vote is now gone, an this driver is now spooked well enough not to rock the boat. It's crystal clear to me.

How long do you work casual with union companies now days. I used to work casual for Consolidated and only got two nights a week. Later, I worked for Carolina and they hired about twenty of us at one time to work fourty hours a week IN THE FIRST SHIFT as casuals, not full scale, believe it or not, in Atlanta, about two months before they were bought by ABF. That casual thing is completely unpredictable. The thing is, they didn't hire us after we had been working for them, they hired us through a newspaper add, none of us was working for them before getting 40 hours on the day shift. That blew my mind.
